I noticed the interior/exterior not matching up, like the door knob, but somehow I never payed enough attention to notice the door has glass windows when Laurie first goes in after Annie drops her off, only for it to be a solid door later.
They make mention of it in the dvd documentary 25 Years of terror, and Sean clark mentioned it in his Horrors Hallowed grounds.
Two houses were used one for interiors one for exteriors. They needed a house with more space inside/higher ceilings etc
So they have more room for the cameras/lights/dolly tracks and so-on
Yes this is exactly what I would love the answer to…at what point did they change the door for filming purposes because the house has the door with the windows on it now currently…
It’s very possible. The thing about it is it obviously wouldn’t be the real Doyle house because they didn’t film at the old locations. So if they try and do a recreation of the house especially in a flashback scene hopefully it actually looks like the Doyle house . We’ve obviously seen the disasters in past movies when they tried to recreate the Myers house and it looked awful and nothing like the original house so hopefully they get it right if they do it .
Lol yea , I think what englundisgod is referring to is the Wallace house ? But yea we’re trying to find the factual reason of the Doyle house front door change…I’m guessing they changed the door for filming purposes because the real door Is the one with the glass but I don’t want to guess I want facts lol
I would image the took of the window door and replaced it with a solid door so that Laurie could bang on it hard while shouting for Tommy to hurry up and let her inside. Also, if they kept the glass door, then she just could have easily smashed of the squares, put her hand inside and unlocked it herself (kinda like what she did in the Wallace back/kitchen door)
All that makes sense… I would love to know when that scene was shot with the glass door…I just find it weird because if u know what scenes you are going to film why would u film a shot of laurie going to the house with the glass door still attached? lolIt also seems like alot of ppl didn’t even notice this continuity error lol
Well we all know that the scene with Laurie and Annie driving to the houses and taking about the dance was done at last minute to add extra time to the movie, so maybe they also added in the scene of them pulling up to the house after most other stuff was filmed.
PS do you guys know that the Doyle house was also used the the 1986 movie Back to School?
Also AHS: Cult (2017) used the Wallace house as the main house in this season. They filmed on the Wallace/Doyle street. You can see both houses in this season. And the Myers house (in it’s new location) can be seen in the Prom Night remake.
I once watched a mini doc that explained this. The door was replaced by the production team because it belonged to the original owner of the house and because of the scene of Laurie banging on the door, and the original door having glass panels, they replaced the door for filming. This was a slip up that they filmed this before replacing it. Also the interior of Tommy’s house you may notice is different to the exterior, but do not worry, because the interior is actually the house literally next door to the left so both and exterior and interior of the house used in the 1978 film are both extremely close to each other.
You’re welcome! I managed to find the video that I learned this from. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/AqgNumot-Qk The time stamp is 22:54 where he explains
The door explanation was in another video I watched but can’t seem to find!
Haha, that video is done by a friend of mine Adam the Woo. Unfortunately Adam got some parts wrong (and admitted it later on when he met TLW) The house next door was not used for the interior shots. After Adam made his vlog, he asked TLW who told him they never used the houses next door at all. As for the glass/solid door, yes that is absolutely correct.
