Okay. This bothers me. Might sound like a lame question. However, at the end of Halloween, 1978, has anyone else seen or noticed when the theme starts playing and Myers heaving breathing is going on… They show different perspectives of where Myers was but isn’t now. Okay, now, the question. Myers takes the knife upstairs when he’s going to go kill Laurie. She stabs him with it. Yet… That knife is at the bottom left corner by the couch when they’re showing where Myers was but isn’t now… Anyone else notice that? Just an error in the film?
as a matter of fact Ghost I did notice but it didn’t click till I read this

def an error bro. You can actually watch on youtube the halloween bloopers they had. Minor things like one scene there were zero cars on the street and when he followed tommy they were all lined there lol
I always thought of that as a continuity error.
But Sherriff Brackett says at the hardware store, “they took some Halloween mask, a rope and a couple of knifes.”
So I would assume the rope was used to tie Bob up to be discovered by Laurie. However the rope could have been used to transport the knives. Kind of like a holster, so Michael didn’t have to go to the LTD to get a new one lol. Just my theory!
From what I remember reading, the compilation shots at the end were not from separate footage and meant to be filmed for a compilation, but a sequence created in the editing room, so it’s not so much of an error as a byproduct of using shots from sequences not meant for a post-ending compilation.
Thank you for the info. It has bothered me awhile. Too long. Haha!
Exactly. Remember, this was a semi-amateur endeavor, so continuity might not’ve been their strong points of priority. I agree that in hindsight, these could be looked on as errors, but the movie is pretty much a folk tale, so these types of inconsistencies are “forgivable”. I have no doubt that the crew members would encourage people not to look so deeply into these things. But I agree that movie makers should try to steer clear of little mistakes like that.
They used the very beginning or ends of takes for the montage at the end. If you look carefully, you can just see Michael starting to walk into frame with Annie’s body when the Wallace house appears.
I thought so. Just like the smoke or whatever that was at the hedge. Heard that was cigarette smoke?
Yes that’s correct I recall John Carpenter saying that he was smoking while they were filming. ![]()
