It kinda pains me to come back here and see how many people have left. I’ve been here since 2006 lurking about, learning and experiencing and later collecting. Had several accounts here because I suck at holding on to login info lol! But it’s just so sad to see how things have declined on this website. Not in quality but in population.
I remember a time where every day SOOO many people were active, it was amazing! Now it seems many have moved to just Facebook.
Now there’s nothing particularly wrong with Facebook, the forum there allows people to get a little more personal I suppose but there’s just something special about this website.
What do you guys think about people migrating to the FB side of the forum? Do you as well miss the older days?
Well and that’s why i suppose so many have moved to FB for that more personal feel and I get that, I am also in the Fb portion but I just miss when this was THE place to hang out for us haha sooo many people on here. Now it’s mostly just the OGs, but hey it’s not a big deal just thoughts haha!
Never had Facebook, never will. I’ve enjoyed this forum for years and like you’ve said, I was around a long time ago but forgot username, password etc. I was around back in the days when I believe Trancas was trying to shut this place down. I’m sure one of the OG’s here can go more into depth than I can regarding it because I don’t recall all the details of that. Was it because of the indy mask makers selling masks here? I’m talking like over a decade ago I think. Been too long.
Yup! I’ve lurked here since I was about 11 but had to make a new acc a couple years ago because I couldn’t remember a password from almost 10 years ago
This is where I go for a “safer” experience. The Facebook groups attract alot of scammers and bullcrap. Youre alot less likely to find it here cause its an actual community and you can easily do a quick little background check on someone as far as credibility here. On Facebook the account you’re talking to could have been stolen 2 hours ago
Agreed, and not just safe, but civil. I’ve seen it get nasty here, but it’s nothing compared to the Facebook page. So many newbies, and they all think they know better, and they all cop an attitude when you show them they don’t. This forum is simply BETTER for conversation, and deep dive research discussion. I feel this way about message boards in general, TBH. You have a more meaningful connection here than on Facebook. Many of us here know each other on a first name basis. If you mention somebody by name, I’d probably know who you’re talking about. Facebook is just so large and impersonal.
But see being in a forum requires a tad bit of effort. Something alot of these scammers and newbie know it alls wont put in. Ill stay here til it doesnt exist just to have an actual community experience
I’m not og member but I love the website. I hate Facebook so I never join, I never seen appeal on Facebook also a lot strange people on Facebook too. We might be small group here but I learned a lot from members here so I’ll stay till it’s shutdown
Easier, yes, but I think faster is part of the problem. I feel like Facebook is so busy that a lot of good content posted there gets drowned out by white noise. It’s just a lot of content coming at everybody all the time, and it’s easy to just get overloaded. Plus, the way the feed algorithms work, if you’re not constantly participating in the group, posts from it eventually drop off your feed. About a week ago, I had to actually visit the group in my listing a while back and make some comments, likes, and posts to begin seeing the group in my timeline again.
Well I’m not saying I’m not “evolved” or however you put it hahaha! Im apart of the Facebook portion as well. But there’s a certain charm about this message board. Trust me brings back plenty of 25 years of terror days! I get that the Facebook group is quicker but I do just miss the old activities of this website. Im grateful that it’s still here granted, but I do miss when this was THE place for all things Myers. Idk probably just because when I came on the scene there was no Fb group so therefore….I guess you could say I’m having trouble fully evolving LOL
