The H6 Question

Soooooooo I’m probably not opening my eyes enough but I own a GPW SSN H6, Brad Hardin ML6 and LTD. However while these are great masks and I enjoy them very much and were some of the few I kept out of my collection I feel like they don’t match up to this mask right here. Does anyone have the mold and make these?

That was one of the masks that were chemically damaged by a disgruntled crew member. I always thought it was an improvement. Love the way the mask looks in the theatrical ending.

Also, keep in mind that the reshoot masks were a bit different than the those featured during the original shoot. The reshoot masks seemed to have been poured a tad thicker. And when worn by Michael Lerner, appeared quite different in shape/structure. They likely derive from the exact same molds, but the way a mask is cast, finished, and worn can drastically change the look.

In my opinion, I think the sculpt comes to life the most when worn by Lerner over Wilbur. I don’t think the mask was originally sculpted to fit Wilbur, so it appears a bit bloated when Wilbur dawn’s the mask. You can also see in BTS footage that the original shooting masks weren’t cut up the back. The original sculpt is fairly large and slid right over the top of Wilbur’s head without the slit. Being cast a bit thinner helped that, of course, but still…the sculpt would have had to originally been fairly large in order for that to happen.

Almost all replicas we have these days are far too small. Being that nearly all “movie mold” masks are not directly from film molds, but cast from production masks. When that’s the case, you have to account for the shrinkage that occurs after the initial mask is pulled from a mold. Then consider that molding an already slightly shrunken mask will, then, produce a slightly smaller copy. And so on, and so forth.

While I love the detail we get from most of Brad Hardin’s lineage masks, sadly, most are a bit small due to the process I mentioned.

there is a good amount of reference of that mask, so someone could easily sculpt it

In terms of accuracy, how accurate is the TOT’s H6?

Very accurate, with the right paint job and hair

yhanks!

I don’t think it’s that easy If you’re not experienced, It’s really hard to get the proportions right.

I suggest a White Mask Productions GPW SIX by Chris Morgan. He has several different variations to choose from when it comes to H6 masks.

The H6 Chris Morgan produces is just a less detailed recast of Justin Mabry’s H6. You might as well buy a TOTS H6 and end up with the same thing.

If you want the real deal, buy directly from Justin.
