The photos of the “rotten” rare isn’t a latex mask blank. Thats a clay pressing. You can tell by some tooling lines on the head and cheek and how the clay ear was mangled when he removed it from the mold. I do not believe the Rares were destroyed. Dick used to tell people he sold the SCREEN USED mask to a guy in china years ago before he actually sold it so no offense to Dick but… He has been known to fib.

This is incorrect. The only clay press in those photos is in these two photos. All others are accurately labeled and are either the OG rare that dick sent, along with the photos of it being molded, and the castings that were completed after the fact. And this is not just a matter of dick saying both masks were destroyed. Everyone involved states this. Dick, and Andrew.

I think you may be thinking I was saying the rare with the Flange on it was clay. No Thats THE RARE (latex mask). I was referring to the clay pressing photos that you posted. I just find it extremely hard to believe that the masks were BOTH destroyed by a professional artist when all I can see is a small amount of cracking around the eyes and neck. Unless The masks were just rock hard and froze like that, but then again if they were BOTH so brittle why are there pictures of him wearing it? If they really are truly gone bummer, Im not here to rehash anything from way back when I was just curious as to why it all kind of disappeared and no one asked what happened. If they say they are both gone well then they are “gone” I guess.

I used to be obsessed with the Rare, but unfortunately, I’ve seen no evidence that they exist, anymore, unfortunately. Such a shame.
