Hey guys, I had a blast at Horror Hound Convention / MaskFest. It was a huge experience for me, as it being my first convention that I ever went to. To get things straight about the theory of whether the Hero was converted by TLW himself or Don Post Studios, he told me that he did convert all of the Captain Kirk masks as seen on the setting of the filming of Halloween and he did try to get DPS to modify a mask from the '75 Kirk mold (all white without the sideburns/sideburns linings with brown hair and widened eyeholes) but DPS was very busy making masks for the upcoming Halloween of course and did not want to do anything with the movie except sell them the standard Captain Kirk masks which was their normal business (they became interested in helping out after they realized the success of Halloween), he got the Captain Kirk mask and an Emmett Kelly clown mask (of course). They decided to go with the Kirk after the first conversion BY TLW, then they returned to the store and bought at least 2 more Captain Kirk masks for an extra in case of damages to the mask… I asked him if there were more than 3 masks and his answer was “I know for sure that there were at least 3, but there might have been 4 or 5… It was long time ago so… (tapping his head as if he’s not sure if he remembers correctly).” We also talked about the other movies he was involved with.
Anyways, I have been exchanging emails with TLW for the past 2 months about our project and he was the 1 who encouraged me to come up there to meet him and get things straight and set up. I had walked in the hotel on Saturday morning with my mask in a box, I was looking for TLW but Sean Clark (Tommy’s manager who’s also involved in our project in a little but helpful part) was the first person I found and I approached him and asked him where was TLW, he showed me his table but he was gone and he told me that he would return soon so he asked me if he could see the mask… so I pulled out the mask from the box and he was pretty impressed, then a guy who just happened to sit on a table right by where I was standing had turned around and asked me if it was an actual DP '75 Kirk (which was a huge compliment for my mask) and it turned out that the guy was DICK WARLOCK and I didn’t realize he was sitting there! Then we explained the project to him, around that time TLW had walked up behind us and said “Let me see, let me see” and I gave him the mask, he looked at it and remarked “Wow, it brings me back 30 years ago.” Then he “poofed” up the hair (I will admit I felt a little uneasy about this poofing up action but it was cool
) and displayed it on his table, then we had talked for a little and he gave me 2 pictures of him for free and told me to “walk around and check things out and come back here around 1:00 for lunch.” Then we met up again and had a lunch to discuss the project and write up a draft of the contract (he typed it this morning). After lunch, I basically enjoyed the hell out of the convention… It was amazing! There were so many amazing masks which you probably have already seen in another thread, I basically took a lot pictures of the awesome masks… the Charlie Sheen mask was so real and unbelievable
So I will just post a few pictures of things that were not shown in the other thread… And yes Corey Feldman was there but the line was INSANE
so I didn’t bother to join the line, but would have loved to meet him
This morning, while eating breakfast with my relatives whom I was staying with in Indianapolis, TLW called and said he got the papers ready and “come up here and meet me” so we went back to meet him again and we went to his hotel room and signed 2 copies of the typed contract for each of us. I cannot wait to see the outcome of this project!
He’s putting the conversion process on a film (possibly a documentary film) so we may be able to watch him in action. I HAVE TO GIVE MY BIG THANKS TO JAMES CARTER AND JONATHAN YUHAS FOR THEIR HUGE SUPPORT!
