When I started collecting, 13 years ago, the Second Stab mask really inspired me to start collecting, as it had the built in Castle stretch, and as a result, encapsulated the persona of Michael Myers to me; the elongated, ghoulish face of the “shape”.
Cue approximately 7 or so years of collecting up to 2020 or so, and we all saw the post by James Mangrum, regarding his new ID sculpture. When I laid eyes on it, I just knew I had to own a copy. It reminded me highly of the Second Stab, but in high definition form.
I never thought a replica of this caliber could be created. While I’ll always have a soft spot for the Second Stab, it falls flat regarding certain angles. The ID, however, doesn’t. James was able to sculpt it in a way that consistently depicts the “shape”, regardless of angle, quite accurately. For me, this is the definitive Halloween (1978) mask, when Castle is sporting the Hero.
If you made it this far, I really appreciate the time you took reading my wall of text. Lol I took these pictures, years ago, when I first received my copy. Enjoy!
The I.D is how we saw the Second Stab back in the day, both sculpts still hold up today, the I.D is just the peak Castle stretch mask as far as sculpted in stretches, it also makes a perfect H2 stretch too
That’s basically what I did with my 2nd copy. Quality over quantity all the way is what justified it for me. I hope you get one too man. I hope they are more readily available one day & everyone who wants one can get one
That’s exactly how I see it, too. Quality over quantity. I have the DB2, 4 Stamp, KH/DW, and this. Also, a couple of Paycho SEs. I’d love another KH/DW, but for now, I’m content. Don’t need 10+ H1s, etc.
Holy crap that looks out of this world ! I have a h2sm by rowland kelly wich has always been my personal h2 grail………now I’m kinda rethinking that a little bit ! Congrats my friend, that may very well be one of the best representations of the h2 myers mask I’ve ever seen !
