The Smoothening of a Myers Mask Rehaul

Hi! So, I’m completely new to rehauling and do not own an airbrush kit. I had to rely on my brushes instead, and while the job looks great (not done with the weathering), it’s glossy, but rough.

Before I go through the trouble of sealing and rehairing and all that, what would be the best course of action?

Sorry to say there is no solution to that, other than to strip it completely and start again. If you are unable or unwilling to acquire an airbrush, use sponges next time.

You might be able to use naphtha on a rag to smooth it out somewhat. It will remove some of the paint, but it’s an easier place to start versus taking off all the paint

If you mixed your paint with latex, please don’t use Naptha or any other kind of solvent and expect it to smooth out. It will make it worse and you will end up needing to strip it anyway. If that’s straight acrylic, rubbing alcohol should remove it all without damaging the factory paint.

Strip your mask and try this mixture: 1:1 latex paint to distilled water and add some Dr. Puppetsteins adhesive. You can get it from Motion Picture FX. If not you can also mix some Pros-Aide. You don’t need much. Learned it from a friend of mine.
