The sweet smell of Latex

I think the most of you know, how sweet a new latex mask can smell.
only a few masks in my collection have such a distinctive attribute.
so here is my question, is it possible that any substance was extra mixed into the latex?
opinions are welcome!

Good question! I love the way a new latex mask smells, and they all seem to smell different. I feel like a little kid again, when I get a new mask. The distinct smells bring back great memories. Not sure why they smell that way, or why they all smell different.

i am with you guys! Smells so goood! I think it’s the paint and fresh latex that smells good.

My vintage masks have a vintage old smell that is much different.

Weird that you posted this,since I thought about posting the same topic days ago.I just got my Mint 75 from Shane and it has an awesome latex smell.You are right,some do have a very distinct smell.My Warlock,one of my Psycho 81’s,and the Mint immediately come to mind.My wife thinks I’m nuts with how much I appreciate the smell.I sat here yesterday getting a kick out of how much I loved the smell of that Mint :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Latex from different places will smell different. Especially if you order in 5 gal buckets from secondary distributors. These secondary distributors and some mask makers will sometimes add clay to the latex to make it last longer and get more blanks per buckets. This will also ensure that the latex breaks down sooner, meaning it will rot faster.
I order mine in 55 gal drums direct from the manufacturer. Nothing is added and everyone that buys my masks comment on how good it smells.

I love the smell of a new mask,My SSN Chris Durand mask has an addictive smell,It hasnt lost its smell and its almost been 2 years:D

I’ve made a few masks and whenever I use liquid latex it smells like rotting fish :vom: But when it is dry or i buy a new mask it smells great :confused:

I love the smell of my DP Gastro! the latex smells like candy! :stuck_out_tongue:

The ammonia is enough to kill ya but when its all cured in the morning and ready to pull, yummy!!!

My CGP “FEAR” smells the best out of all my masks. Its got a candyish smell to it that I just cant put into words lol.

my warlock I just got has such a sweet cinnamon like smell
every one thought I was crazy when I kept smelling it hahaa
