The Village Voice - Halloween ad/review - 06 Nov. 1978

Just got this in the other day… This is the only known published window date for the premiere of Halloween in New York City. I have a feeling these are pretty rare so I feel very fortunate to have located this one, especially in the condition it is in. It’s MINT. Here are a few shots for now.

That is friggin’ amazing. As a New York resident I have picked up the voice off of the street a million times.THAT is one copy I would L :open_mouth: VE to own!!!

CONGRATS on owning a piece of history

That takes me back to growing up in new york. When Halloween was going to be broadcast on TV in 81 I was 6, I remember the Hooligan on my bus to school punched me in the stomach because I didn’t know what Halloween was. That prick probably works on wall street now.

Thanks for posting and great score! :drinkers:

That is very cool. I got the Box Office Magazine for the month Halloween came out and the TV guide of the first time it aired on NBC. I have looked for this issue but haven’t been able to find the date or a source to buy it from.

Thats cool!I have a few Village voices with a couple of my favs in there. That’s when you still had to buy it!
Now the V V is free and usually ends up as someones blanket.
Cool find

That’s awesome, quite a collector’s piece! Congrats on the score!

Most triumphant score! Love that pic of Annie :drinkers:

It’s unfortunate that childhood memories can be marred by such incidents. The contrast between a simple Halloween misunderstanding and the aggression is a reminder of the unpredictability of life’s journey.

Reflecting on my childhood in New York, a vivid Halloween memory stands out. At 6, excited about the TV broadcast in '81, a school bus hooligan’s punch for not knowing about Halloween. Ironies of youth, wondering if that mischievous classmate found his way to Wall Street.

Wow, that’s an impressive collection! The Box Office Magazine from Halloween’s release month and the TV guide from its first NBC airing must be real gems. Have you tried reaching out to collectors’ forums or online marketplaces? Someone might have a lead or be willing to part with their copy.Nrega
