Deserves its own post I think.
The opening title sequence used the font and colour of Halloween 3, the movie is also the third in the trilogy; this is smart, and most people missed it.
They’re also missing the fact that Dr Sartain let Michael out in 2018, he was also corrupted by evil, and took Michael’s mask at one point. If this didn’t happen, Michael would still be in Smith’s Grove rotting away as an old man. “Say something” is a metaphor, it’s meta, for the fans, they want Michael to speak again, not literally, but they demand a movie, they demand kills.
Kills established that the more he kills, the more he transcends. Killing gives him his invincibility, his ability to withstand insane damage. This is more evident in the 78 flashbacks, he missed Laurie, she got away, and he also missed the cop that Hawkins accidentally shot, which is why he was in a weakened state, and got arrested for 40 years. Michael had no choice, he would have died facing off against the cops. Loomis’ dialogue in the scene further justifies this, “Hawkins, did Michael kill, did he kill again?!”; I think Loomis knew at this point in this version of the story. “It needs to die” is meta for the franchise, and how it needs to end.
Ends, Corey makes sense, like I said he was corrupted by evil, just like Sartain, and the movie is in the tradition of Halloween 3, right down to the font and colour in the opening credits. People are complaining how he was so strong in Kills and so weak in Ends, that’s simple, he went into hiding because Halloween night was over, he only kills on Halloween right, it is the title of the movie, and the insane damage he took at the end of Kills, that justifies it. You literally see Michael gain strength when he kills the cop in the sewers, his composure completely changes. But then Corey starts stealing his kills, and steals his mask; at this point Corey is stronger. You even see Corey’s hand has fully healed in one scene, right after a kill. Michael is once again forced to fight Laurie, because the fans demand it, once again it’s meta, which is why these scenarios keep getting fabricated. “It needs to die”; they end this version of the franchise.
people have issue with Laurie overpowering him; guessing they forgot about the 78 movie, and how many times Laurie had the upper hand. He was in an extremely weakened state in Ends.
Michael has died in dramatic ways already, in H2, H20, and H2 (2009), I don’t see how people are also annoyed that he died in this movie. They’ll just reboot again eventually.
I hated these new movies, but after Ends, I’m in the minority, but it clicked for me, it made me realise the story arc and what they were going for. As I explained above, it makes sense in many ways, I didn’t see it until I studied the trilogy as a whole. I think it’s a lot smarter than people can see.
