This may sound weird, but . . .

Does anyone else feel like Halloween I and II are almost sacred?

I get this dreamy, nostalgic and basically comforting feeling every time I watch them and I can’t really explain it - I only watch them once a year, both on Halloween, just to make sure that feeling won’t fade . . .

Weird, I know, but maybe I’m not alone.

No matter how many times I’ve watched either film, I also believe each movie is sacred. These are damn classics. They should have never remade them. To me, they will both be the greatest horror movies ever made  I can sit down and watch them both with my full attention each time, or leave them on in the background while I’m doing something else, like cleaning, writing, working, or sleeping! From the first time I had seen the second movie (the first one I ever saw of the Halloween movies) I could not get it out of my head. There was just something about it that tapped into my darkest fears - and I latched onto to it. And they became a huge part of my life.

I agree. They are 2 of my favorite movies ever, and definitely my favorite horror movies. I can watch them 15 times in a row and not get bored with them. They never fail to put me in the halloween spirit.

Agreed. Like y’all said, its just a classic and also IMO the best horror’ films ever made. I like h2 more (my favourite of all of them. And I could also watch it with full attention no matter how many times I watch it. I also listen to the theme when I go to sleep. xD

I agree with every bit of that Darren.for me i’d have been quite happy for them to have Just made the First movie and left it at that imagine how special that would have been, you think theres many questions and intregue surrounding the movie now just think how much there would be if they hadn’t made a sequel haha but i do enjoy the sequels so i can’t complain.

sounds like a perfectly normal statement to me…

I feel the same way anytime I watch those two films. It’s crazy cause at times I think, “Am I the only one who feels like this?” It’s awesome to know that there are others like this!

Here’s taking it a step further. I’m originally from Chicago and moved to Los Angeles about 8 years ago. Every Halloween since, I visit Pasadena, CA where most of the locations are. Let me tell you, if you think you have a nostalgic feel watching the movies, imagine being in the neighborhood where it took place. It’s an indescribable feeling that I hope all the true fans get to feel when being there. And on Halloween it’s amazing, houses are insanely decorated for the holiday and there’s hundreds of kids and parents trick 'r treating.

Agreed. Those movies are such a huge part of my childhood and life that I consider them very sacred. I watch them at least once a year and they never get old. I love them completely, and no horror film has ever come close to topping the emotions I get when I watch them.

This is a great sentiment. I visited Pasadena for the 30th Con in 2008. I’m from Canada, so my buddy and I (also from Canada) met in LA just for that weekend. We trick-or-treated on Halloween in Laurie’s Neighborhood - Imagine two 35 year olds dressed up and asking for candy LOL! - but it was FRIGGIN awesome!!! The area where we were was totally decorated TONS of kids, and friendly neighbors! Imagine that! When my boy is old enough, we are making a trip down there again. I LOVED it there…

I couldn’t agree more!!

They are to me, mainly for Nostalgia. I loved Halloween (the season) as a kid, AND, I also loved the 70s and early 80s. My favorite music is from that era, the Southern CA culture during that era, etc. So, those movies just bring me back to that time in my childhood when everything was fun and magical - which seems weird, being that the movie is about some pretty horrible stuff when you stop and think about it

Man, I need to find a new place to live in Cali! Unfortunately the neighborhood I live in doesn’t give a crap about Halloween. I didn’t get one trick or treater last year. And I still haven’t made the trek to Pasadena to check out the filming locations! Yes, I am a douche…

I completely agree. I get the nostalgia from these films because I was pre-teen when they came out. I got to see both films twice in our little theater on Main street as a kid. The furniture, clothing, dialogue, and every thing about these films was exactly how it was in the 70’s. Nobody had to lock their doors at night, everybody knew everybody else in town. My Dad was a Cop. I will always love the familiarity of these amazing movies. :sunglasses:

That is most likely the feeling everyone here has.

Whoah :open_mouth: I fall asleep to the theme too and I also wake-up to it and then on the way to work play the soundtrack
Yes but definately this is why we built shrines for these movies

You aren’t alone at all, man. I feel exactly the same way…something about the first two movies just puts my mind at ease. It takes me back to being a little kid. It’s something that transcends words, really. It’s like what you said, it’s comforting. When I watch those first two films, I get this feeling of peace deep inside…none of the other movies can capture that feeling.
