I don’t have a tattoo, but I do want a thorn tattoo on my wrist. I simply used a marker for this pic. Anyone have a thorn tattoo or planning on getting one?
I’ve been thinking about getting one for a while now. The only thing that has stopped me is I’ve just never been sure how I would explain it to people when they inevitably ask since it would be quite visible on my wrist.
“Oh, this? It’s just from Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers, it’s an ancient runic symbol based on the constellation that appears on Halloween where the inflicted must sacrificially kill their family in order to spare the local community of disasters. Wait- why are you running away?”
In all seriousness though, I would probably just say its from a movie I like and leave it at that. It’s a great subtle way of having a Halloween tattoo that only die-hard fans would understand. Love Halloween 6
I’m quite tattooed, but I’d rather tell you to be careful. If you want to be marked with Thorn, nobody has to judge, but if you have to work someday in a company quite strict about dress code, a tattooed wrist could be a real problem…
Ten years ago, I was employed at a law firm, and on my very first day there, my boss told me I had to remove my conch piercing - even if tiny and flesh colored. To be honest, no attorney working at that place even cared looking at me and my low-wage co-workers more than five seconds a month, so they probably really didn’t give a damn about it, but my direct bosses were terrified by the attorneys… so I had to. Anyway, the piercing, done about six weeks before, wasn’t healed yet, so, it scarred and totally close in a few days…
If you really want one but don’t want to hurt any job offers in the future due to a wrist tattoo, you can always get the blacklight invisible ink and it would only show up in blacklight/UV light. But where’s the fun in that right?
Wrist and hand tattoos present a problem for any potential jobs you may want or need in the future that frown upon it. It’s unfortunate, but that’s just the state of the world in which we live.
If you have a secure job and aren’t worried about any of that, I say it’s all up to you at that point. I wanted one myself, but my with my job I deal with corporate store owners and suppliers and all that good stuff, and I have to maintain appearances as I represent a company that’s out of state to myself. If I was still just a vendor for them and never took the option to move up the ladder, I could of gotten it without issue. But I wanted the money more, naturally.
I’m not really ready to get a job yet, I’m not even out of high school. Maybe I’ll get it on my back or something when I get older…
Yeah just heed us older folks advice. At the end of the day, it really depends on what type of job/career you choose to go with. There are plenty that don’t care about tattoos, but plenty that do as well. So it really depends on what you decide to do later down the road.
I’d definitely advise against the UV tattoos. Most of the UV ink floating around is questionable at best, and I only know of a few florescent dyes used in the medical field that would be safe, provided you don’t have a shellfish allergy, and are willing to pay the extra price since it’s pretty costly. I’d definitely wait on getting it somewhere visible, or until you’re older and have a better understanding of where you’re wanting your career direction to go. My experience on this is I’m heavily tattooed, and I’ve tattooed professionally for ten years.
Wait 1 year, if you still want it than just get it
I don’t have any tattoos myself, but I have thought about getting myself one.
I’m thinking of getting a thorn on my wrist and a sigil of Lucifer somewhere as well. Not hard plans, but ideas floating in my head.
