The handful of looks we see on screen are the looks customers want to see while their mask is displayed.
Obviously, little thought was given to the actual mask when it was being converted. It really was a simple as it looked. But if we do that, we just won’t have the ON SCREEN result in our bedrooms.
The more I watch this, the more it changes my mind on who created the Myers mask. If you watch this, Tommy converts it easily…it’s basic, simple and here’s what I did.
I really think he did the conversion.
Wait, just realized. Wouldn’t the spray paint he used eventually start to crack on the mask eventually because modern spray paint isn’t rubber based? Or am I missing something?
Years ago I remember an interview with him (late 90s) where he said the paint ended up flaking off and they used white grease paint clown makeup to fill it back in. I think that’s why it ended up looking so filthy in H2
This is a great video! Thanks for sharing it. I just bought paints to rehaul a ToTs Boogeyman. I should have bought a cheap can of Krylon.
This all hold true for wearing navy blue or blue/grey coveralls. That’s the color they look onscreen most of the time. I’m a big Star Trek fan and model builder and have built models of the Enterprise. The Enterprise studio model was actually a greenish grey color but onscreen it looks white or gray or bluish gray depending on the lighting.
Dude, why are you even on this forum? The majority of your posts aren’t even Halloween related, and when you do post about Myers masks, it’s usually something snarky like this comment.
Totally agree: Jason, username, Jason avatar pic, likes Friday movies more than Halloween, likes Jason better than Michael, and has never positive to say whatsoever. Makes me wonder why they’re on here.
Don’t get me wrong. I understand that there aren’t many forums these days as everything has migrated towards Facebook groups. And there is a section of the forum to discuss other horror characters. So of course, contribute to it. But at some point, I feel like some members are using this forum strictly to discuss Friday the 13th related content every other day and even market their own products or blogs.
In this case, Jason13 straight up insulted a large majority of Myers mask makers and converters by using quotations when calling them “professionals”, and then went on to criticize their price points.
His mind would be blown if he knew the actual cost of making a hockey mask vs the price some artists charge.
Wow my life is complete. TBH this is how I’ve always pictured the mask: plain white with the sinister expression and demented hair. I’m from the 80s, i.e. long before high definition TV and all the high resolution BTS photos now available courtesy of the internet, so to me the mask always appeared to be just a plain white on TV, so I was a bit confused when people started using a lot of weathering and flesh tones. This reiterates that a good sculpt like that NAG Kirk doesn’t need anything but the right lighting and shadows. Also shows that TLW’s hands are what really make this mask so frightening, despite that he says he knows nothing about making masks! Truly an amazing video and a priceless contribution to this community.
