I just received my Tots 2018 mask and though it was shipped in a bag not box I’m pleased with it. The only draw back is it looks on the SMALL side being in more in the size of the TOTS h2 hospital mask I have. Anyone else have this “problem”??
Yeah, unfortunately all the 2018 Myers masks are small since it comes from the same mold as the mask they used on screen, which was formed for JJC’s head.
Definitely an understatement lol! I know I’m not the average consumer with a 24.5’ head but man it was near impossible to find a copy that fit. Took trying on 10 to find 1 to get over the crown of my head!
I thought James Jude Courtney was on the rather large size so I took it his head would match! LOL Anyway I don’t plan on wearing it and leaving the tags intact so i guess it makes no difference but I thought it was a larger mask
Unfortunately the only mask they offer that is on the larger size is the H2 Deluxe. I feel with the demand of this week they will be offering a larger version in the near future as well
Really wish people would just state facts. If you have an idea of what Is going on “state” it as that and not fact.
This mask is smaller because it is NOT from the direct mold from the screen used mask but, a second or third generation of the mold. Even though they said their process (tots) is from the original mold and that they didn’t loose size, they did. Silicone shrinks and urethane shrinks. Maybe a minute bit depending on the actual materials used but, that added with latex shrinkage will make the mask smaller. This mask (tots 2018) is derivative from the original mold, NOT from the actual movie mold.
Their kirk mask fit me perfectly with just a little room left inside and my head/face wouldnt distort the shitty sculpt. THIS 2018 mask is right on my face. No room inside and I’m sure my head/face distorts the sculpt
: ( oh well…
I posted in the pre-order thread about mine and included pics. To say I’ve been eagerly-awaiting this mask is an understatement. I loved it from the first pic of the hero and couldn’t wait to wear the new mask this Halloween. I’ve had a feeling since more info has come about this movie (which I’ve been following since it’s announcement like the rest of you) and I was thrilled about wearing the new mask in our neighborhood this Halloween. I wore my second TOTS H2 last year and got a tremendous response.
I was able to get the mask on with great effort. Once on, it caused excruciating pain after a few minutes. The pressure was really bad around my cheekbones (which are not prominent) and it was even hard to open my mouth. It was like a second skin and I couldn’t keep it on to stretch it, not that I think it would stretch anyway.
My wife burns cookies damn near every time she bakes. Same applies to masks. I always tell her to cut three minutes off the time on the packaging because you can’t “un-bake” what’s been baked. I’ve tried on screen-accurate sized Vader helmets and they’re way too big for my head. I could have easily padded the helmet and the rest of my body to get everything in scale. Making this mask so small when this is such a big score for TOTS and for the Halloween fans is inexcusable. Go with a larger mask and sell balaclavas on the site as well for those for whom it will be too large. Most importantly, actually provide the size of the mask on the site when you pre-order.
I wish I’d had ordered a HalloweeNMan in time for Halloween. It wouldn’t have been the new mask, but it would have been amazing and far better than the TOTS H2 I have. That’s what I’ll be stuck wearing again this year. I am officially done with TOTS, who has also lost my money when it comes to the other H18 props they’re releasing after the movie.
It is smaller than the H2 deluxe for sure. Very snug fit. But I find that it fits better once you pull it down and pull and pull to line up nose and eye sockets. The h2 deluxe had a roomy feel but it didn’t maintain its ‘Shape’ like this does.
This is just crazy that everyone is having this much trouble with the size of the mask. That’s really upsetting. I must of been one of the lucky ones, as my head is 24", and mine fits like my two H6 masks. Not loose, but not tight either, a perfect fit if you will.
My elrod is much smaller than my 2018 mask, the elrod had to be significantly altered just to get it to fit so I didn’t suffocate.
Definitely seems to be way more reports of too small, vs reports of fits good. Which is sad. I can’t sit here and tell you that if you have a 24" head, that you will be good, because evidently a lot of the masks out there are not fitting 24" heads. It’s total hit or miss, a mask that you would have to hope to find in stores where you can try a few different ones to find one that works. Ordering one is a total gamble on the size. That’s the most unfortunate part about this mask it seems. Which is a shame.
It is a shame, because if TOTS had handled this correctly, either with a larger mask or two sizes like the H2’s, they’d have a huge hit on their hands with fans. The tie-in with the new movie would have been tremendous and would have secured lots of faith in their future H1/H4 offerings. In light of how they’ve handled H18, I’m done with them completely. Between Zephro insulting fans and threatening to sue people (even those not making H18 masks), the ill-conceived mask size, and the crappy customer service, I think TOTS has shot themselves in the foot with Halloween fans. I’m saving up to finally get a Handiboy and will also be getting an DSS hood instead of buying a TOTS mask to use instead. I’d rather spend the extra money for excellent customer service and unparalleled quality.
