I own the TOTS 78, and I can tell you that it really captures the look of the '78 mask very well, especially if you work with it a bit with a bit of shading and hair work, and Markenstein’s 78 rehaul more than proves it. The Boogeyman mask is a good mask too, but I honestly prefer the 78, hands down. If you want a mask that looks accurate to how the mask looked unworn, go with the Boogeyman. But if you want a mask that captures the way the mask looked on screen, get the 78, as it has a built in Castle stretch.
Unless you have a massive head or are dead set on having a castle stretch, then go with the boogeyman. It’s smaller, has better paint, and way better hair on it’s own. Don’t get me wrong the 78 can look good if it’s a good copy with proper eyecuts and a rehaul, but the boogeyman is still far superior imo.

This is going to be my first Halloween 1 mask. Which do you prefer and why?

Boogeyman bc it’s more accurate and sized better

Sculpt wise they are both accurate they are just different looks the 78 is what you see on screen the boogeyman is more of a unworn look
You must have a tall head then. I have close to a 23.5 inch head, and a tall one at that, and I have to wear a beanie for it to fit even remotely close to how I like. And it still looks huge on me.
I have both and I think I prefer the Boogeyman. They both provide completely different looks. It also depends on your head size as the H78 is much bigger.
the 78 is the best for a Castle stretch, if your head is tiny, you can stick some foam in the neck of the boogeyman, also cut a slit in the mouth to help the stretch
See that’s the thing any mask can get redone and look good if it’s redone properly. James Carter can make the worst mask look great for example. So really if im judging a particular mask or masks as far as which looks better im judging them based on how they look coming straight from ToTs
I totally agree, I was just trying to show their potential and the different looks they give. I feel like most stock copies of the Boogeyman I’ve seen would still be my pick over the 78.
