Are the cut outs in this mask small or accurate to an H1?
Just got mine and trying to figure out if I need to widen them or not
Also does the original H1 mouth have a slit between the lips or no? Thanks!

I have the TOTS Ben Tramer mask, which is the same as the Elrod, and to me the eyes are just a bit too small and far apart compared to the original H1 mask. Also, yes the actual mask had a slit in the mouth. Here’s a pic of Nick castle wearing the mask behind the scenes and a pic of the Elrod to compare.
Hmm how can I widen the eyes while retaining the shape? What’s the best tool/method? And should I cut a slit in the mouth as well?

I have no experience doing this myself, but I’ve heard you could use a Dremel tool to do it if you’re really careful, and as far as the mouth slit goes, it’s up to you really. It’s not exactly something that you’re really going to notice, but if you really want complete accuracy to the real mask, then yes.
Thanks for your replies!
Anyone else can explain the Dremel procedure? Do you use a sanding attachment or?

No problem man! And from what I hear you should use a small diameter sanding attachment on a low speed
To use a dremel tool on a latex mask the attachment has to be felt tip or a felt wheel, any other attachment would tear up the latex too quickly.
Never use a worn shot to make your eye cuts accurate
I’m struggling with how to get the right size. I don’t want to go too big. How could I gauge how much to cut?
With my TOTS Kirk, I firstly drew what I felt the eyecuts should look like with a pink highlighter. I used that particular marker for one specific reason: it’s easily erasable and still manages to show up enough to give you a good gauge. For the actual tool, I used $12 cuticle scissors from CVS. These eyecuts aren’t perfect… but for my first try ever, I am REALLY happy.
I use small cuticle scissors. Here is a side by side shot showing how/where I changed the eye cuts. I left the outside edges alone for the most part and actually cut the inner edges of both eyes nearest to the nose to achieve the look I wanted.
Well here’s the result. I only cut a little bit out towards the nose per HollowMeanMan’s suggestion.
Cuts were a little rough so I used black paint to blend into existing paint towards the outer edges and to hide any little edges that weren’t smooth

It looks fantastic. Great job!
Thanks! Here’s a quick pic of it
Well done, sir! That’s how you jump in fearlessly and get it done. Congrats on the new look!
Much improved look here! Nice work.
