ToTs H1 knife

Hi everyone, I just ordered a ToTs H1 knife and I have seen in videos that the knife is very shiny. Is there anyway to dull/weather this knife? Any help would be appreciated!

Fine grade steel wool works.

I left mine alone, it’s really not that bad if you ask me, it definitely looks real especially from a distance. So much so I worry it would be mistaken for the real thing.

Aside from that, I know that some folks who have dulled theirs down did bring it more in line with a weathered knife. As said above, I remember some folks used fine steel wool. I wouldn’t press very hard, or else it could strip the coating. But from what I’ve seen, it worked well.

I’m sure by now someone else has come up with a whole new method, but I haven’t read anything recently.

I attached some photos so you can see what it looks like in both daylight and night time right out of the box.

The knife looks great.

Which one is it? Here’s two links.

What mask are you wearing? The Castle stretch looks perfect.

His blade looks to be the second link to me.

Thanks! It’s the second link you have there, the hard plastic electroplated one. Not the foam one.

As for the mask, it’s actually two different masks, one is a NAG 75K Castle SE, and the other is an H1SM78. I stretch the masks myself as I have a long face similar to Nick.

Thanks man! I’ll see what it’s like when I get it and decide if I need to use steel wool

I used a green pot scrubber, you run it from tip to handle bot swirling or circular motion, you want it to look like metal grain

Oh nice, I like that idea even better, I may just have to try this.

The first link is to the foam one that’s described as the ‘screen used Lamson’, but I thought it was agreed that the H1 knife was actually a W.R. Case and Sons Cut. Co 102-12. The second link is to the Tim Miller designed knife that looks just like the W.R. Case and Sons knife, but it doesn’t mention the brand of the knife. Have ToTS just failed to keep up to date with the research or is there still some debate?

I have a very realistic looking Lamson replica which I think looks much better than the ToTS H1 knife; the build quality is also excellent and it’s much heavier, really feels like you’re holding a real knife, rather than the flimsy feeling ToTS. However, I want to be as close to screen accurate as possible, so I decided to buy the ToTS as well. For the money, the ToTS is great value and maybe after I’ve weathered it a little, I’ll change my mind.

Lamson was never used at all, It’s confirmed to be the Case Cutco 102-12 knife

Exactly. So why do they call the Lamson the screen used one?

Because they didn’t update it, simple, I think what’s even worse, and hilarious, is the fact they say their Snaggletooth Helmet for Motorhead is the first ever, but it’s not, it’s the 8th or around that, cause these are the first ever masks/Helmets

This post is 2 years old lol. Yeah. The Case was the confirmed knife even before TOTS released their knife. They also don’t have any specific markings. For the price. You cannot beat it.

Dirtknap offers a Case replica along with JC and has for some time now. I have a Lamson by both of them and haven’t felt the need to upgrade. The DirtknapFX Lamson was $160? I think the Case is about the same. JC about the same price but he only is able to do them in his spare time.

Most collectors I talk to actually display the TOTS knife. It is literally an exact replica of the Dirtknap knife. They molded that one for the final product. But for under $75 it is the best on the market. People seem to forget that these are all mass-produced while independent artists make each one by hand. It was a huge upgrade from their original foam knife. Ya get what ya pay for
