Ordered a Creep last week, and since it is gonna be a long wait I decided I’m going to try to convert a TOTS Kirk mask into a Myers. Planning on following Tommy Lee Wallace’s method. This will be my first mask project, so I’m trying to keep it simple but effective. Haven’t received the Kirk yet, but from what I’ve seen the sideburns are attached to the hair. Any tips on how to deal with the sideburns and make it look accurate? I’ve read to use spirit gum remover to pull them off, and I’ve seen some people cut the sideburns. Others fold them behind the ears and glue them down, creating a different hairline. Anybody have some tips for a beginner? Trying to get a game plan before I receive it, so any help would be appreciated!
I did the same thing a few years ago. If I recall me and my friend actually pulled the hair off just past the sideburns, cut the sideburns off and then reglued/applied the hair back glueing it in the spot it was initially but giving it a proper-ish glue line. Its was definitely nothing special but it was fun to do!! They eye cuts were also a pain!
I’ll have to try that. I’ll be happy if my mask turns out like that. Looks good! I’m a little nervous about the eye cuts as well. I’m just gonna try to have fun with it. I plan on doing more in the future so hopefully this will be a good place to start.
That was the first time we ever did anything like that and if we can do something that…. passable? I AM SURE you can do it better! Having fun is the main thing! It’s holding you off til you get your Creep anyway! Please post pics of both!
Depending on the copy the sideburns can come right off real easy or be held with what seems like gorilla glue. I usually remove the entire front hairline and sideburns and trim the glueline to make it look more natural. Then I reattach it with liquid latex and leave a little bit of sideburns showing like in this photo of the hero.
My advice would be look up tutorial on YouTube. I’m gonna do one myself but the eye cuts probably be toughest part
Thanks to all of you for the advice! Haven’t been here long but amazed at how helpful people have been. Cheers!
