Tots pre order H1

I’m curious to see if tots 2019 pre-order will be a joke like last year. It clearly states on tots website that masks will not start shipping untill August or September. Well I just saw a seller on eBay guaranteeing April delivery!!..here we go again…I’ll buy mine asap from other seller, not waiting for tots to ship to me

The seller probably said guaranteed April delivery just to get you to buy. I doubt very much the H1 is going to be delivered in a little over a month and a half

^This^ If TOTS says they won’t be releasing the mask until August/September, then how could anyone have one to sell in April?

Sounds like a ebay scam. Be careful

That Ebay seller definitely sounds like they’re trying to pull a fast one on you so beware! If you’re not buying from ToTS directly, then I’d go to another legit retailer for ToTS like Nightmare Toys or Lord Grimley’s Manor. As for the H18 preorder fiasco last year, that honestly was only because of Universal pictures not releasing what the mask looked like until spring, forcing ToTS to open preorders much later versus their usual January-ish, and then the whole Party City / Spirit Halloween situation… it was all an awful chain reaction. Thankfully, this year the H1 mask is not under any of those releasing limitations, and I heard that both Party City and Spirit Halloween isn’t retailing the H1. All in all, this year is really shaping up to be a much better improvement than last year

“Really “Shaping” up to be a better improvement” I see what you did there… :myers

It probably is a scam but if guys on here start posting pics of their new H1 in the spring, then I’m on the hunt…

Well I was one of the first to get a preorder in at TOTS, as I was browsing their site the night that the preorder was posted back at the end of January. One minute nothing was listed under Halloween 1978, I go look at a few other products, came back to the Halloween 1978 page again and it was there, and I preordered right then and there. It was around 11pm eastern time when it went live that night.

So I will definitely post some shots if it comes that early, but I highly doubt it’s coming that early. Their normal routine, if we ignore the mess that Universal caused with the H40, is preorders go live usually at the end of January, and those who get the first preorders in within a day or two of the preorder going live, usually get the mask or prop by mid August, sometimes early August. I have preordered several things from them over the years, and that’s the normal routine.

The H40 was not the normal routine. That whole H40 mask problem was all on Universal, not TOTS. And as for the size of the H40, is because James Jude and Nick Castle have heads smaller than 24". It’s not a huge conspiracy like some folks go off on TOTS about.

These new 2019 masks are sculpted with larger size heads in mind, which is most likely why Justin sculpted the H1 from the ground up, and most likely why he retooled the H4 and H5 masks.

Those two masks, the H4 and H5, were tiny if we are talking about their movie molds. No one would be happy if they just send out straight laser scanned H4 and H5 movie molds. They wouldn’t fit 3/4 of the folks who would buy them. Those masks were skin tight on Wilbur and Shanks. So Justin retooling them, is a good thing.

Unless of course you have a smaller head like me, in which case, you are screwed because f*** us I guess.

I just don’t understand their refusal to make different sizes.

The good news is you can go from large to smaller when making sizes, but can’t go smaller to larger. Think of the H2 mask, they had the different sizes because the initial mask was large and able to work a smaller version from.

So if these new masks are larger, then they in theory could make smaller versions.

This is why it’s basically impossible to make a larger H18 out of the movie mold, as that’s just the head sizes of Castle and Courtney. They would have to make a new sculpt for that, and then it no longer is the movie mold if that’s the case. That’s why that mask is in the position it’s in.

So hopefully they do take that into consideration for the new masks, for the sake of different head sizes.

Some people here will say the same thing as you though, only as it pertains to larger head sizes and the H18. Damned if you do damned if you don’t. Sort of have to go custom indie mask if you need it to fit perfectly or close to it.

When dealing with mass produced masks, they can make a few different sizes sure, but will the cost justify the means if they make too many ranges of size, at the 60 dollar price point, you know what I mean? That’s more work in the factory, that could raise that 60 dollars to maybe 100 dollars at some point, and at that point you may as well just save for an indie mask.

If you honestly fall for that then I don’t feel bad when you get scammed, Sorry not sorry.
