Hi there. New here, just got my first Myers mask. I ordered the Boogeyman but it came too late for Halloween this year. I have no experience with latex, airbrushing or work on masks in general but I feel pretty confident I can make it look better than it does. I figure I will fix the hairline by folding it forward and glue down as many on here have described. I’ll style the hair, weather the mask with a black wash, dry brush a bit of detail and seal it with one of the products recommended by you guys here (I have read this entire thread lol.)
The main question I have are about the eye holes. Does anyone think the eye holes are okay as they are? I feel like they might be a little on the small side. I’m thinking about rounding them out slightly toward the bottom outside corners of the eyes to get a bit more of that droopy-eye creepy look lol. For reference, I’m not looking for it to be perfectly movie-accurate but definitely prefer an H1/H2 look. Being totally new I would take any tips/advice. Thanks!
I think the edges could use some smoothing but I wouldn’t make it any bigger than it already is. Here’s some pictures I use for reference on my eyecuts.
Just received the “Boogeyman.” Out of the box the hair was astronomically too long, and glued all the way down the neck. So after a haircut and lighting, I believe its spot on. Hair quality is outstanding. Also who knew Mikey wore Columbia jackets?
Oh, those are wonderful. Excellent work on the hair. Could I ask which paint you used for the fleshtone? I’m having a really difficult time trying to find the right color.
Thank you. I used a combination of acrylic paint colors. A mix of burnt sienna, brown, and white. It took a lot a trial and error to get the color I liked. Then it’s mixed 1/3 liquid latex, 1/3 water and 1/3 paint mix.
Just got my first Tots 78 rehaul and i think it looks incredibly similar to the screen used one… In my sight it even looks a little like the flashback mask…
Thoughts?
Does anyone have a tip for the hairstyling?
I think the hair has a little too much volume and i dont really know how to handle it…
What are you folks currently using for paint sealer? I’ve seen people suggest Plasti Dip, Krylon, FX Warehouse Flexible Latex Paint Sealer, Liquitex Varnish (both liquid through air brush and spray can), and water-based polyurethane varnish. I’ve also watched Nick Mulpagano use Plasti Dip Matte and then Glossifier and Ed Edmunds use Krylon Matte in their mask videos. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with options. Really curious if anyone here has tried several of these and found that brand they’re going to stick with.
