TUTORIAL How to remove WORKRITE elastic

Whats up guys?
A few people on the fb group were asking if anyone had removed and relaxed the fit on their Workrite coveralls waistband.
Ive done it w/ other brands not Workrites, So I decided to sacrifice a pair to find out how the elastic was sewn in.

This is the best method, you lose the elastatic & gain extra inches in the waist. Youll keep the pleated fabric look
on the waistband, and when your done no-one can tell its been modified no need to cut any fabric.

First things first, the coveralls have two seperate elastic pieces. Both sewn in on each love handle.
Theyre sewn in one stitch at each end, not fully sewn in or one large waistband. there two elastics.
The seam where the Action back pleat meets the waistband is the halway point. That line is the middle of the elastic.

Step #1 use a stitch ripper to cut out the two top stitches, along the top side of the waistband. Youll only need to
take out the top stitches to reach the white elastic band, so theres less work sewing and you dont need to remove
any of the grey fabric to get at the elastic. You need a 1.5"-2" inch slit to squeeze your finger in and grab the elastic

Step #2 When you open up the top stitches in the last step now you can reach/see the white elastic band.
Grab a hold of it/hook it with your finger then pull it out/ stretch it as far as it will go.
Dont worry about anything ripping theyre sewn in in really good and strong at each end.

STEP #3 While holding the coveralls fabric between your knees, pull on the elastic and pull it out of the coveralls.
While your holding the white elastic cut it at one end as close as possible to remove as much of the elastic as you can.
Dont let go of the elastic, you repeat the same thing stretch it out and cut it off the opposite side.

STEP #4 Same process, this picture is just to illustrate the technique

STEP #5 Final steps, after you removed that one elastic, now do the same and remove the elastic from the other
love handle. When you remove the two elastics in the waistband, stretch out the coveralls waistband all the
charcoal grey fabric in the waist. With the waist-band stretched out to finish just re-sew the two top stitches you cut
