I am thinking you did not read my entire post. Here is my response (as copied from above):
I don’t think we will see Resurrection Part 2. Resurrection came at the tail end of the “Scream” era of crappy slashers with pretty teens (Valentine, IKWYDLS, Urban Legend, etc.), so all they thought they needed to do was get a bunch of pretty actors and an iconic villan to make it work.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - puppets, the start of zany Freddy, skeleton-Freddy, etc. Arguably the best of them all, certainly the best next to the original.
Friday the 13th part 6 - Certainly the lightest of the entire series, at least up to that point. Also the best.
Now going to Halloween -
Let’s discount H1, H2 and H3. H4 was pretty heavy, Michael trying to kill a little girl. Same with H5, even with those stupid cops. H6 tried to get VERY heavy and failed miserably. RZ Halloween movies were extremely heavy, with the back story and the psychic episodes, etc. The two “light” Halloween movies were H20 and H8. H20 was great, H8 was terrible. I like my odds, especially since (as I said before) H8 was made in a time where they could get away with it.
Light does not equal bad. The best Halloween movies are the ones with the smallest plot but the best direction, setup, etc. Let’s stick to that.
I thought H20 was light because it had a lot of the signature Kevin Williamson dialogue, the fast pacing, the very teen-friendly cast as well as some humor.
I know exactly what you want but we’ve all wanted that with a lot of films. Films like the monster squad even…they dont make movies like that now. I have jsut accepted that.
