In the same sequence when DW goes under brighter light it looks blonde or blondish, revealing alot of the Kirk hair’s true color. It’s very obvious on my TV.
That’s why in the end Terry made 2 versions, the brown hair version and the blonde hair SE, to satisfy the customers.

I see what you are saying T, if he walks under a light it is of course going to look lighter. I am a Lighting designer and I know first hand that you can change the looks of something dramatically with lights. If I want the true color of something I want to see it in a natural lighting scenario. I do see what you are talking about T. For the most part the hair looks dark in the film. Only in certain scenes like you speak of does it take on a lighter appearance. In some shots it looks redish, in other blondish but mostly it looks a darker brown. Different people see things different ways I suppose. It just depends on what floats your boat. If you look in this shot he is lit very well with color correct lighting and you can see the true color of the hand and the hair.

Depends on which dvd release you have.
The early dvd release looks brown but the second release(better picture quality) looks blonder and reddish.
Don’t take this the wrong way but your screen caps look like the 1st release version.
I have two masks that are on the blonde side and depending on the lighting they turn brown when I take a pic.
BTW I work for a photo studio.

Yep I agree it is a tan to medium brown, and that is the color that a lot of warlocks have, it is certainly not blond though, it just sometimes takes on that appearance. I have been messing with lighting for 25 years and I have seen so many different looks you can get with lights. I am not trying to start an argument here I was just stating that the hair is not blond or really light, it is more tan to medium brown, hence giving it a darker appearance on film. You are right Paul when you say the coveralls are not blue. As far as the two pics you posted Paul, the close up is light reflecting on the hair giving it a blond appearance, and like I said earlier in some shots it does take on a red look. We could argue this all day, but I think it has become a bit pointless.

Yeah, its all about the look that you want.
I think the lighting definately throws the color off on the mask for sure.
I see brown, but it was definately lighter. Just like the coveralls. They were definately spruce green, but I see blue (see below). Again, the lighting can play tricks but its your preference and choice, thats all that matters!!
There are some great copies out there for sure!

I don’t recall starting any argument just giving my opinion on what the hair color looked like and you had to put your two cents in. Again the man who wore it said it was a light tan color so that’s good enough for me.
