Randy and I just finished negotiations a little bit ago, I am now the new owner of the 30 year proto. I am probably gonna get roasted over this considering all the controversy surrounding this mask, but I believe it has ALOT of hidden potential. I will have pics up in the next few days when I receive it.

You might as well alter it since most people no longer care whether or not a piece is in original condition or not these days. Altered masks used to bring in less money compared to their unaltered counterparts, but today modified pieces (depending on the work done) enhance a masks resale value and appeal.
I don’t believe that people are intentionally flaming you or anyone else who will undoubtably end up with the 30yr masks. I believe that the animosity that people feel towards the mask needs to be directed at Nik, not you or anyone else who spent hard earned cash to buy the piece. When I had originally inquired about this mask, Nik advertised it as an “end all, 100% accurate” piece. The final product did not live up to the advertised hype and for the price, you can’t blame many people for feeling bitter.
If you like the mask that is all that matters, noone needs to flame you or even should for that matter.
The mask has potential given the right tweaks in my opinion.

Why exactly should it be directed at Nik? He did the mold and the finishing work was to be done by SOMEBODY else, so who are you to blame him on the half assed job Terry has done on his portion of the agreement? The mask looks great, extremely Castle-esque IMO.

Nik did the sculpt, NOT Terry. Hell even if Nik pulled and finished the masks himself, people would send the masks out to be altered. Nik’s work is the most altered work on the market today. Who am I? I’m one of many who Nik told that the “SCULPT” was “100% accurate.” Who am I? Obviously someone who has better eyes than you.
If Tony is happy with the mask great. I am not disrespecting him nor anyone else who ends up with the mask. Pick your fight elsewhere.
Nik’s Myers work is the most purchased on the board. He does not mess about with making paying customers wait. He has revolutionized the market at the very same time many others have turned to fraud and deception. The 45 day revolution isn’t needed for Nik. He defines the very notion of good business practices. The highest quality work, excellent communication and lightening fast delivery. He should be applauded for that.

If you want to start a thread about your hate issues regarding Nik or this project, then go for it. Nik’s work is altered, as was the hero, so it makes perfect sense to me and to about 99.9% of the rest of the forum.

i have to diagree with you as well man. Nik did his part. when you talked to Nik did you expect him to say something like, “ehh the mask is so so, ive done better for ATOL cheaper” ? why hell no!
if this was ONLY Niks project from the begining, i feel it would have turned out differently and by differently i mean better.
i dont know what your issue with Nik is but your deffinitely in the minority about that around here. Nik is a real blessing to this hobby and is the most talented sculptor we have.

I will say though that as a purchaser of this mask ages ago (an idiot in a lot of people’s minds, but I’ve been called worse), it is a little frustrating to see these protos flying around on the boards recently. It would be a different story if the run had been completed and distributed, but since we still have no clue as to when the masks will go out, it’s like a carrot that is just out of our reach.
Having said all of this, I have absolutely, positively nothing against the owners of this (these) proto(s). I say congrats to all of the owners and truly hope everyone loves their masks. I am just frustrated with the whole situation.
By the way, NONE of my frustration is with Nik. I just want to make that clear.

Enjoy the mask Tony, I’m not disrespecting your purchase. I just feel bad for those who purchased this mask in good faith under the advertised claim by Nik that the sculpt was “100% accurate” and clearly the end result is no where near as accurate as Nik’s prior H78 sculpt. Nik’s 2k mask should have been the 30th mask, now that’s a mask that I’ll agree is accurate.

Just to clear a few things up, there is talk of numerous protos of this mask floating around. That is not true. This is the one and only proto ( for now, lol). But seriouslythis is the same mask that James owned then it changed hands to jimithing and later to Randy and now to me. There are no worries of numerous unnumbered copies floating around and the rightful owners of the numbered copies not getting anything. James was promised the prototype and got it, and hopefully this is the beginning of everyone getting what rightfully theirs and resolution to this whe ordeal. Thanks Benny, Jon and the rest of you guys for positive comments.

Wow, that is definitely a surprise to me that this is the only one proto. I had no idea that it changed hands so quickly! Here’s hoping the floodgates open soon and the numbered copies start to flow.
