The hero is in bad shape now, but it was still in tact after 20 years and I highly doubt it was getting cornstarch treatment.
I don’t have an indie mask yet, but considering most (if not all) “normies” wouldn’t appreciate the details put into an indie Myers mask, I would only wear it to a horror con (especially a big one like the one coming up) and then only for a short time. For a non-horror con or Halloween/Halloween party, I think a TOTS rehaul is the best bet.

You look great dude! I bet seeing a costumed Jamie was a trip. I probably would have hugged her but awesome pics
I also plan on wearing my mask to cons and at Halloween however I’m more worried about the mask having issues outside at Halloween as we do have les then awesome temps here around that time and would hate for it to rip or such then.
I actually asked for Nikos’ (NAG) advice before I ultimately decided to wear mine to the con. He encouraged it, only stipulating that I should avoid too much time in direct sunlight.
I’m both a collector and a cosplayer. My mask collection is basically divided into display pieces, and “working” masks.
If I want to keep a mask in pristine condition, it’s a display mask.
My working masks include both mass-produced and indie masks. You will get more wear and tear on a mask if you wear it a lot, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’ve got an H4 cover mask that I’ve worn to maybe half a dozen conventions. The paint is cracking and scratched, and it’s picked up some dirt in a few spots. The natural weathering gives it a more authentic look in my opinion.
The latex is going to rot eventually either way. It’s your mask. Enjoy it while you have it.
