What can be done to best preserve latex?

How does it restore cracks in a mask?

Also I’ve seen a video a while back about a guy that uses 303 on his car tires that helps them last longer as well as other uses.

It’s apparently made to protect vinyl etc for boats so I’m sure it’ll do just fine on a mask

Took a bunch of masks out of storage today and tried the 303 on them all, not a drop of paint came off of any of them, these were masks by several different makers as well (HSS, Russell Lewis, The Prop Shop, JITB, my own, Nighstalker Pro, WMP, etc.), so differing paint mixtures. Even the black chalk I used to dirty up an old mask didn’t come off of that one, and that was put on over the initial paint job. I feel like it’s pretty darn safe.

its very safe nothing comes off only restores moisture guys dont be afraid to use it. You’ll thank me later you did. It was me thinking smart that this product would work I use it on my new mustang too.

To add a bit I tried to touch up some spots after I used the 303 on a mask and the paint wouldn’t even stick, also tried to use some scotch take to hold the back inside slit together and that wouldn’t even stick after using 303 on it. Protects pretty darn well.

As for cracks, helped with both paint cracks and some mask drying (post paint removal, a mask I used a previous paint removal chemical on that I no longer use) on two separate masks. The paint cracks thing was a godsend as it’s a mask I’m putting up on eBay, now putting pressure doesn’t even reveal the cracks. The latex issue was an old HMK that I used naptha to remove the paint from (now I use something another member here suggested and it works perfectly).

I’d be really curious to see more analysis on this. Everyone has different experiences with different products but I’d love to see some sort of research on if this really works overall, and if it varies based on mask type/sculpt/whatever.

Walmart carries this product. Have not used…but will it a try

I think a lot of us are skeptical over what could happen over time.

I am, definitely. But who knows.

This product is for real. My other hobby is drag racing, engine building, and muscle-car restoration. This is one of the very best products that I have ever used. Ghostrealm is 100% correct. People with boats use it and their boats stay in like new condition. It also works great on door seals and dashes and anything that you do not want to get dry and brittle.

I wanna wear my mask and use this stuff to protect it from the moisture of my breath and oils from my face and hair

Thanks guys I just want everyone to have their masks last forever as its an expensive hobby.

I guess I should elaborate, I’m not doubting that the product works, but I’m rather curious of how it could effect the mask in the long term since the chemical compounds in latex are different from those used in the realm of vehicles and such.

It should be fine. It’s often used on latex gaskets to make them last longer.

Here’s an excerpt of the product description:

“Safe and effective for use on synthetic and natural rubbers, PVC, gel-coat, fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastics, finished leather and UV-sensitive plastics”

Since latex is a natural rubber it’s safe. Also this product is recommended to be reapplied every 6 months or so, so I don’t see it causing any harm in longevity

That clears it up! Thank you .

I just leave my masks alone, stuffed and out of direct sunlight. I’ve never had a single mask melt or rot. I’m sure that 303 stuff might work but I wouldn’t put in near a high end mask. I just wouldn’t risk it.

Yeah, I am actually going to buy it for my vehicle, but not sold on using it on any masks.

Probably will be fine, but just seems like a risk.

Not to mention, not sure I wanna slather this stuff on a mask I may wanna wear. This stuff surely isn’t good to have on your skin for any length of time.Let alone while your pores are open and sweating. Just seems a bit sketchy.

Have been reading about it and really look forward to using it on my cars though!

But I would say chances are there is a big difference between using said chemical on a boat/car and using it on a latex mask.

Im telling you guys. If you dont use it down the road the masks will dry and be easy to tear. Im sick of buying masks from people on ebay only to being dissapointed that i receive a mask all dried out and was ever disclosed to me.

This is the best stuff to use I even used it on my Khdw SLE and it is awesome. I dont care what anyone says. I will use it on each and everyone of my masks.
You choose what you want to do. Just dont sell me or anyone your dried out dusty masks.

I bought this stuff and used on my masks and so far so good. Thanks for the heads up.
