I don’t use anything. In fact, I let the shadows and natural light do the work for me. You should be able to see Michael’s eyes, or a semblance of humanity. He is evil in human shape (pun fully intended), and for that effect to work, you should be able to see his eyes at very brief points, or when you’re up close and personal, to truly stare into the devil’s eyes, as it were.
Plus, in my experience, having pantiehoes or black eyepaint draws your attention away from everything else to really focus on that. The fabric is really obvious to see in close.
This picture of me in my Creep is a perfect example of how it should look in shadow unless you’re deliberately looking for my eyes.
And in Halloween Resurrection. I personally dislike the idea of needing to cover your eyes. It was a bad decision overall in H4 and H5, though the masks also weren’t stellar.
his eyes are still visible in there, but the issue was how tight the mask was, in 1 and 2, the mask doesn’t fit properly, same with the Hallogreen Trilogy, it still isn’t as bad as H20 with that goofy Winston mask
Everytime Ive worn a morph mask under the mask the eyes are too dark. The trick is to let lighting make them look darker. You have to have some kind of eyes in the mask or else its just not Michael
