What is one thing that you disliked about the character

What is one thing that you dislike about the Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees characters over the years? For me with Jason I hate how they turned him into an ugly zombie. I wish they would’ve kept a more human look like in the earlier films

There’s no much I can think of from the original film. But Michael’s whole Cult arc was odd. I’m sure I’m not the first, nor will I be the last to say that. It all came to a head when he stood there like a Haitian zombie in part 6 at the ritual next to Dr. Wynn. forehead palm ensues

There’s a lot of things I hate they did to the Michael Myers character over the years. The first mistake was giving him a motive by making him Laurie’s brother in H2 (luckily this was addressed in 2018). I hate the cult nonsense from H6. I REALLY hate how Rob Zombie handled the character with a totally unnecessary white trash back story, and on top of that made him a 7 foot tall brute like Jason. Before anyone says it, yes I realize Rob was making it his own for the remake, but still. Finally, I don’t like how they have kept the Rob Zombie brutality for the 2018 film. That’s just not Michael Myers. He’s not Jason, he’s the freakin’ Shape. Hope they address that in the upcoming sequels.

I like the brutality that Zombie brought. Zombie showed you what actually happened to make that bloody crime scene. Not do a cut away shot. Stabbing someone or whatever is only entertaining for some long in a film. Gotta keep the audiences attention. That’s why Jason seems to be the more popular because he kills in different ways

For Myers, his character is perfect in my eyes. A normal sized man, but truly evil personified. Obviously there are more holes in the storyline throughout the years than I can count. While I do enjoy the films, H4 especially, I disliked the Thorn storyline. Just added a supernatural element which I don’t feel was necessary. Also really hated that Paul Rudd and Busta Rhymes were able to beat up Michael, who is capable of pushing his thumb through your forehead

I’m not a fan of how Wilbur looked in the pads in H4, the more I see it, but giving mite a motive ruins the film, Jason’s character just repeating “the boy who drowned” gets old really fast, I liked Part 7, not for the film, I liked it’s technical side for stunts and design

Jason seemed like a real guy until Jason lives. Then his reactions were very supernatural and zombie like, I didn’t like that. Didn’t like how they made Michael Myers so robot like. It was suspenseful in H2 but after that it started getting ridiculous. He became a super strength robot

I hated the Cult arc for Myers and I agree I was not a fan of zombie Jason. I prefer a more human Jason.

:drinkers:

I hate how they made Myers do sexy time with his niece in H6. And this was in the fan script too, I think, so the dude who made it wanted to see that, and I hate it because that’s not something Myers would do, he doesn’t get pleasure that way, he gets pleasure from killing ffs

I never understood the whole origin story of Jason. So he drowned in Crystal lake as a kid, continued growing, and somewhere along the line he learned to swim? And then randomly in FvJ he is scared of water.

Or either he never drowned. If someone could clear it up, I would appreciate

Well in the first one he clearly drowns. To make a part 2 I think he possibly survived it but no one knew he survived?? Just doesn’t make sense for a dead drowned guy to live in the woods with moms head unless he didn’t drown and he saw her get killed. Anyway Jason is more human until he is killed in part 4, although his face surely looks like a dead monster compared to part 3. Maybe his mom hid him in the woods in that shack. Part 2 is two months after the original so he is obviously fully grown. His mom is kinda crazy anyway and because of the lack of watching her son she goes even more crazy. That makes sense to me.

I never like zombie Jason at all but i hated Tyler Mane as Myers with all grunting and hobo look wasn’t a fan also i prefer Meyers to be around 6-1 to -6-3

While his mask is iconic and is synonymous with the character and is the main reason he has endured and why we have this community, i would have liked that some of the films hadbt relied on the mask so much. A lot of people dont like to see myers unmasked and i can understand why, i dont like to see him unmasked either, but if you had a movie where he stayed in the shadows more and only got the mask towards the end or used it randomly i think the mask would have more of a punch. While cool, the masks started becoming a parody of itself kinda like jason. As much as we love the masks, they also brought down the character imo and made him more of a farce and kinda repetitive. Im talking more in h5, h6, h20 and resurrection. In these films it feels like the mask is there just to be there, especially h20, h6 and resurrection. No explanations as how he got the mask, why the look has changed, etc. Not really putting down the masks since i love them but in the context of the films i think they become a little absurd. I wish the masks were toned down a bit, used less or seen less so when they do appear or the shape puts it on to kill someone it becomes more impactful and hits you harder. In h78, halloween 2, h4 and h2018 i dont mind as much since there is a reason hes wearing it and its believable in the context of those films. Also the rob zombies makes it believable as to why hes wearing it as well.

Agreed about beardie hobo look and the loud shout-type grunting, but Michael grunted in Halloween78 too, when killing Annie and Linda.

damn i seen 1978 Halloween million times and never notice it before but i’m gonna rewatch it just to see for myself thanks for info though

Yeah, give it a whirl. I think it makes him even more sinister !

The fact Michael Myers has had a stupid motivation since H2, and it’s taken them THIS long to correct that issue baffles me. Evil does not have a motive; no reason, no conscious, and no rhyme.

The Myers cult arc Always felt so stupid.
Another thing would be Rob Zombies films which… we don’t need to talk about those.
