What is your indie mask hot take?

I’ll start. I’m not a fan of NAG at all. His work to me doesn’t entirely have enough soul - like on how when the original Kirk was made, it looked like it was sculpted with love and kindness like a homemade baked mac and cheese. And in my opinion, NAG’s masks look artificial almost robotic in a way. I WILL die on this hill!

I haven’t openly advertised this, but I don’t collect NAG pieces. Period. Haven’t owned one, never will.

Not because I don’t like the masks, but because I don’t like him or the way he does business.

His approach to navigating the competitive market, although legitimate, is appalling.

My hot take is this:

There isn’t a Kirk replica in existence that has nailed the likeness of the original. There’s always something off. No one has been able to replicate that magic.

Hot take 2:

A hyper-accurate mask finish SHOULD have cracked chipped, and peeling paint. Not the rubbed off, smeared look that has become the norm. I’d love to see what the artists can do with a mask that they intentionally crack, chip, peel, and seal. I wonder if it’s possible to seal it up in a way that would still allow the cracks to spread a bit when being stretched.

I agree with ALL of that, but I hate his H1s, and the ultimate cover with a burning passion
