In your opinions, what makes or breaks a great Kirk sculpt? My opinion is both the v-brow and the lips. I’ve seen some sculpts that if one or both were different they’d be instantly more accurate.
All of what’s been said already plus the nose and chin. All affects the profile. The one thing that killed the 2nd Stab mask imo. I owned one and didn’t care for the profile at all
For me, definitely the eye cuts. I’ve seen great masks with shitty eyecuts and instantly looks nothing like it. Just take a look at real 1975 Captain Kirk masks that have been converted lol. It is literally the exact same sculpt as the hero mask yet the poorly done eye cuts ruin it. Also size is very important to me. The original 75 mask was a child’s mask and seeing replica masks at like 25” which make grown men look like 5 year olds dressing up as Myers just instantly loses any accuracy for me *wink TOTS H1 1978 mask *wink
For me, it’s the cheek definitions, and generally how softened the features are. If the definition is too sharp, or too angular, the sculpt comes across as amateurish. I think that sometimes, newer sculptors get too eager and rush their sculpt instead of being patient and making sure all the features are smoothed out.
I think the smaller sized masks make for a definitely more accurate mask but also very importantly as was stated here earlier are the eye cuts. Eye cuts to me really make a mask pop or make a mask look really off.
Yes, same thing man. I’m pretty sure OP is referring to a finished result, not just what makes a great sculpt on its own as you could have a perfect sculpt but it really doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to get the best result out of that sculpt.
1…Eye cuts (gotta be spot on)
2…Hairline (I hate the perfect straight line the whole way around)
3…Length of neck (Seen some with the neck far to long)
