What Paint is good to use?

Just wondering what is a good paint to use when converting these masks? I’m new to this & I know the paint I’m currently using is deff not the paint I need.

I use acrylic paint mixed with latex. You can find acrylic paint almost anywhere. Walmart and the hobby stores have it. If you are using an airbrush, be sure to dillute it with a little ammonia so your gun doesn’t plug up.

use ammonia with the cheap walmart acrylics. You need to mix latex in there also or it will crack.Beieve it or not you can also use your basic white latex house paint and acrylics diluted with ammonia.I also like the createx acrylics but there harder to find and a little pricey

How long with the acrylic / latex / ammonia mix last on the mask ? Will it flake or have any adverse effect like rotting the mask ? Thanks

I use monster maker and it works great

Thats an awesome site Bro, Thanx for the link.

Yeah you should use acryllic mixed with liquid latex from monster makers and the acryllic from wal-mart. But I’d reccomend Monster Makers because its quality and comes ready

Do you still need the ammonia if you plan on painting the mask with a brush and sponge?

Thanx for the help everyone, I’m new to this so I’m still learning.

You don’t have to use ammonia if using a paintbrush or sponge. It’s mainly used to thin out the paint/latex mix so it will flow through an airbrush a lot easier and cut down on clogging it up. I guess you could use it to prolong the drying time by a little if you are using a paintbrush or sponge. It dries pretty quick.

Just a tip for you guys… Regardless of using a sponge or airbrush, you don’t want to apply paint too thick on masks with lots of detail. If you do, it can wipe them out. I’m talking about forehead wrinkles, cheek detail, eyebrow markings, etc. I’ve seen many high-end Myers repainted with thick layers and it can ruin the look. It’s best to apply a couple of thin layers of the base coat rather than just cake it on.

Very good point.

Slasher and Warlock thanks for the tips.
