Well in my case, the crazy doctor was one of the few things I really liked about the last movieā¦
H2 (1981). The movie moves seamlessly with the original in terms of style and it really does just feel like a continuation. Dick Warlockās portrayal of the Shape, though different to Nick Castleās, is one of my favorites. An interesting way of looking at it is that when Loomis shot Michael in H1, he essentially killed whatever humanity was left in Michael and only the evil lived as you canāt kill evil. Michaelās body continued to be a vessel that evil used and the movements of Dick Warlock in h2 are the stuff movements of evil. Michael moves normally in H1 because he stilled had some humanity. H2, all humanity is gone. Only thing that really messes this up is the brother/sister thing. Obviously the reason for the change in movements is that Dick just moves the character differently with no real meaning but I try to justify it.
H4
I used to love Halloween II, but Iāve just got too many issues with it now. The hospital setting, Donald Pleasence, and the photography looking similar to part one are all great, though.
H4, itās the closest in spirit to H1. Itās simple and follows the boogeyman theme and doesnāt add anything extra to complicate the continuity (save for Jamie existing). I pray we get a new 4K or above scan of H4ās negative (same with 5-H:20 as 4-H:20 all have old dvd era scans) so we can get a nice blu-ray and also UHD of the film and see it in much better fidelity than we have had to deal with. I find that often helps oneās appreciation of a film.
