Granted, I have never seen these masks in person, but it seems to me that the “Relic” is the superior mask of the two. Though, what baffles me is that the “Artifact” is notably more expensive. Maybe somebody can shed some light on this for me?
The Artifact is a sculpt by QOTS/Scott that was sold to HSS.
From what I understand, both the “Artifact” and the “Relic” were produced by Q.O.T.S., using the animatronic head. HSS now owns both masks, so I was wondering why there’s such a price difference (the “Artifact” is 2.5x the price of the “Relic”).
The Relic is the budget version of the Artifact. Less paint detail, cheaper hair etc. The Artifact is the better mask in terms of finish, hence the price.
I did not know that about the Relic. I always thought it was an original sculpt by Sam.
Though, I do know Sam recently dropped the price of the Relic, hence why it’s so low.
Yep, the Relic came out not long after the Artifact as the budget version for those that couldn’t afford the price of the Artifact. It was made by Scott and is the same sculpt as the Artifact just with less detail and cheaper materials.
Is Sam the guy that runs HSS? As far as I know he now owns the mold for the Artifact but makes them as budget masks. I’ve not seen one of his in person but it doesn’t look great in terms of hair which hurts it the most as looks synthetic in pictures I’ve seen here, and the paint is lacking the detail of the original Artifact, but it is $300 cheaper.
Yes, Sam McCain is the name of the guy that runs HSS.
Just checked his site and yes, he offers a Relic now too which is the $100 mask. I’m guessing it’ll look cheaper the the original Relic by QOTS as theirs was priced higher.
Personally I think HSS should have changed the names of the masks or added something to the names to avoid confusion with the original runs.
There isn’t much of a difference, now that HSS has them. Either would be fine honestly. You can always get a blank and send It to someone 
The artifact is much better, not a fan of the hss ones tho. Would definetly try and score a QOTS
