Hello everyone! I am looking for interesting facts and trivia about the production of Halloween movies, especially the first one, any detail is good, and if there is something that I have already heard, it’s good to talk about it. You can follow me on instagram.com/halloweenmoviefacts or facebook.com/halloweenmoviefacts
Now, to the subject of my post, for many years I had seen among the photos of behind the scenes of Halloween (1978) some very interesting photos, in one of them are two men each wearing a mask of the shape, it’s in black and white, and in two other photos in particular, which are from the production wrap party, appear John Carpenter, Tommy Lee Wallace and Nick Castle, playing guitars and singing, I guess as the Coupe de Villes, and the three carry each one a mask, and there is another picture, I suppose it was taken immediately afterwards, where they no longer wear the masks on, but hold them with their hands. At first I didn’t care too much about them, but since the next movie was announced, I have been getting more and more to read discussion forums and news, and in almost all of them, someone talks about “the mask”, that the mask from Halloween II is the same from the original movie, that Debra Hill kept it after the original wrapped, then Dick Warlock kept it after Halloween II wrapped and sold it to a collector a few years ago, etc. And it was then that I remembered the pictures I mentioned before and said “Wait a minute, where are the other masks!?”
Does anyone know anything about these other masks? Who has them, if they are with a collector? Or Carpenter and Castle each have one of them? I recently read an interview with Tommy Lee Wallace in Halloween Daily News, and they ask him about the other masks, but he doesn’t know what happened to the others. If anyone had information about it, I would appreciate it if you would share it with me, this subject is becoming a holy grail for me. Greetings!
A while ago Billy Kirkus said he knew of someone who “might” have one of the stunt masks in storage, but i haven’t heard any more about it. Ive also heard its in Debra Hill estate.
Well, we obviously know where the hero is, but as for the others…
I think I agree with Flamin’ Tramer that the mask burnt at the end of H2 was the SY H1 mask, that’s been what I was thinking since the last discussion on this. However, I do think it could be one of the 5 Tramer masks sent to set by DPS. Hard to tell with how little we see of it.
I think the JLC/SBT is still out there, privately owned.
It’s probably so that the owner doesn’t get bothered. It’s pretty easy to reverse search a pic and find the poster online.
Here’s that first photo you mentioned:
Here’s the one next in sequence. One doesn’t exist (to my knowledge) where they are holding them. Just where they’re on the floor beside them.
Hero- Mark Roberts
JLC/SBT- Maybe out there somewhere?
SY/Hallway/Face Reveal/SNL- PROBABLY burnt at the end of H2, but not known for sure.
They eyecuts don’t match up or I’d say possibly .
It’s probably to protect private collectors/owners. A pic is posted, a simple reverse search and the owner is found and then bothered to no end for pictures or a chance to buy it.
Yeah, nothing ever came of Billy’s post unfortunately. From what I have gathered it is not in Debras estate. I mean there’s always the chance I’m wrong but signs point to it not being there. What I wonder is where did Jamie get the future SBT mask for her 1979 photoshoot with her mother, and where did she get the other stunt mask for the SNL shoot?
According to Billy, the one he supposedly found is in great condition.
I’ve talked with several “key” members from the group about who has the mask. There is NO reason not to believe who I talked with about having this mask. The family wishes to remain quite about it and I will honor this request.
Yes…they know what this is and they do not want get bombarded. I bet…it will go to auction sometime with in 5 years. I just have a feeling. Which is fine…no way would I ever want to own it and I never offered to own it.
A replica mask is fine. Owning the real deal…no way…too much responsibility. I would be afraid of sunshine, air or anything. Nope, nope no. The Pumpkin I just purchased was/is my Grail. I’ve always wanted that since I first saw and knew it existed. I remember drawing it back in 4th and 5th grade in art class in 81/82…my teacher thought I was nutz.
That’s understandable, most people (including myself) forget that owning such an iconic prop and having the responsibility to keep it in tact and pristine is a heavy one.
I never even thought about it existing, crazy! Oh man I’m hear you. Drawing horror/Halloween related things in school got me in trouble a couple times for not paying attention, weigh that in with the fact that I went to a catholic school growing up and they really weren’t happy!
It’s NOT my choice. You can “This” this all day long. If they don’t wanna take pictures…and haven’t this long. Well, you probably aren’t gonna see any.
I wouldn’t say anymore Billy.
Theres always tha one guy that’s gonna use you as a stepping stone and can’t stay put with anything.
(That is why I’ve stopped posting)
