as said, any info at all would be most intresting and appreciated,
Thanks
It’s owned by a guy named Mark who owns a horror attraction in Toledo, OH. The guy bought the mask from Dick in 2004. Rumor is he plans on restoring and foam filling a mask. He hasn’t supplied any pictures since. He’s very secretive about the mask. If you email him he won’t respond. I don’t think anyone has tried to actually go to see it which is wierd considering it would be the ultimate grail for any collector. Anyway here’s his website: http://www.terrortown.net/flash/index.html
It probably melted and had to be thrown away. I could see him being bitter about it because he dropped all that cash on it and didn’t take care of it properly. ALL these years and no pictures? This is the only option I could come up with that makes sense.
That theory makes sense unfortunately! I would B posting pics proudly of it but nothing and any fan that hard core would want to B here but Who Knows maybe he,s loaded and don’t really give a shit. We will see if he responds to me. I told him I would make the drive to see it displayed. It would be amazing if a bunch of us could witness it together in Ohio We could make a couple day trip out of it this Halloween.
did he ever show pics though? hes been secretive the whole time about it from what i understand…the last pics i saw it wasnt as bad as i thought it would lookthe back was real damaged… i kinda wanna see those pics again they were good sized up close pics
i would like to consider other things before coming to that horrific conclusion!
Im pretty sure it’s long gone,if not’ some more recent pictures would bound to have surfaced by now, regardless of the 2004 picture my attention always gets drawn to that appalling mess it was in’ in that KH/Rare vid with Dick showing it and that was back in 2001,if i’d paid what Mark did for that piece of Movie History memorabilla and knowing how special it is, i’d be doing my upmost to keep it in as good a condition as possible and there was speculative rumours spread about he was getting it restored but these were just that’ Rumours, and spread by whom god only knows as Mark seems to be unreachable for some reason or another,i also think the reason we never seen any shots in the earlier stages of Mark’s ownership was because he just wanted to remain in the shadows and not want any unwanted attention which im sure there would be lots of if he’d surfaced and showed it here, but thats the baggage that comes with owning something of this stature and im sure he was fully aware of that hence why it was never shown, ive even heard he lurks the boards but again how much truth there is to that im uncertain of,it is a shame we never got to see more of it for sure as it means everything to us hardcore fans.
i duno man you kinda just answered the question in your response in my opinion lol ‘‘i also think the reason we never seen any shots in the earlier stages of Mark’s ownership was because he just wanted to remain in the shadows and not want any unwanted attention which im sure there would be lots of if he’d surfaced and showed it here’’
^^ i think if it IS around this is why, i mean its pretty evident…but wasnt there SOMEWHAT recent pics? like later then 01?
There is one picture that was taken with Mark and Dick in shot holding the Hero on the styrohead, that was taken around 2004 and is in the gallery, everything else you see picture wise of it was prior to that’ ie the Photo stills from the ‘96’ Sean Clark vid.
I actually live in the same town as Mark (Tiffin, OH). His terrortown.INC office is only about 5 minutes or so from my house, so there’s a pretty good chance the hero is only a few minutes away from me. Anyways, I saw the mask displayed in Toledo years ago and it was in pretty bad shape to say the least.
I find Mark to be a coward, If a prop as valuable as that was owned by someone, like Anthony said, pics and trying to save it would be great for us, I can relate to your saying with Mike Becker owning the Original Part 1 glove armature, pics are taken of it and it’s still in great shape considering it’s age, Mike has taken great care of it, Mark I’m guessing has been very careless with our beloved god of masks, it makes me sad to hear that’s in horrible shape now.
If the mask is in that bad of shape, I don’t think I would want to see it anyway. It would just piss me off…I have no clue how someone could let a piece of cinema history just fall apart like that.
Its long gone… a buddy of mine knows Mark and said that he let it deteriorate. The latex melted and stuck together. The hair fell off. Its gone. Been gone since 2011.
I doubt it would have been simply tossed into the garbage and forgotten.
Look at what just a strand of the H20 mask hair sold for with an accompanying COA. There could have been as many as 100 locks of hair recovered and sold at 100 bucks a piece with a decent COA. Even if it were only 50 locks, that alone is 5000 bucks. A good chunk of the money he lost on the mask.
