Where was Laurie, or Cindy in 1963?

Some sources contend that before Halloween of 1963, Laurie Strode didn’t just go by her birth name of Myers, but that her first name was changed as well, from Cindy to Laurie.

Now the question is, where was she on Halloween night of 1963?

We know Michael’s parents returned home to see him with the knife after he killed his sister Judith, but as we can see from Michael’s POV, she was not in the car, front or backseat.

What we do know from the timeline is that Michael was six years old on this night, which would make Laurie two years old on this night if she graduated high school in 1979. This means she was born in 1961.

But where was she?

I don’t know exactly what time Michael’s parents actually returned home, and nobody knows what the parents were doing that night, but it was probably pretty late which means if two year old Laurie was being babysat that night, her parents should have picked her up on the way home which means she would have had to have been in the car. BUT she wasn’t.

This leaves only one possible explanation:

Was baby Laurie actually asleep in her crib at home remaining undisturbed by the loud screams of her sister Judith as she was being killed?

Is it possible that Judith was given the task by her parents to babysit that night while also makeing time to be with her boyfriend?

Possibly, but see, this is the problem…Laurie was never supposed to be Michael’s sister, which is why she isn’t in the 1963 scene, so we’re looking for something that simply isn’t there.

Well to answer this would be to talk about Halloween '78 itself and its intent. The original Halloween, as many people know, was never supposed to be sequalized. It was a one and done 1 hour and 30 minute twilight zone. The brother/sister angle didn’t even exist until 1981’s Halloween 2 where retroactively it is revealed. So considering the idea itself is retroactive continuity, it can be assumed her crib is in the parent’s room maybe and that she was taken trick or treated with her and Michael, Judith put her to bed and decided to have “fun” with the bf. There is no definitive answer as the idea was made up by an inebriated John Carpenter suffering from writer’s block.

to each his own but personally I don’t consider any of the sequels canon, not even the new ones. The simple existence of a sequel eliminates the original intent of Carpenter of the shape being a “force of nature”.

This

Definitely. I wonder how it would’ve turned out if Carpenter’s vision of no Halloween sequels existed

it wouldn’t have turned out lol, that was it. He probably would have gone on to make a few other anthological films that take place on Halloween, similar to Season of the Witch until he got bored.

True, true

The only thing I didn’t like about Halloween II was the sister part. It would’ve been fine to just continue his obsession with killing the “stranger” Laurie. He IS a psychopath after all.

There was still one way to answer this question about where Laurie was that night.

The scene when Marion revealed to Loomis that Laurie Strode was Michael Myers’ sister in “Halloween 2”.

Marion could have also confirmed that she had indeed been born in 1961, and was indeed a resident of 45 Lampkin lane, as well as where she was on Halloween 1963.

I think this was a loose end that “Halloween 2” created that was simply over looked by John and Debra when they were makeing “Halloween 2”.

Unfortunately, in the timeline of the current trilogy there is no way this question can be answered because Michael and Laurie are not siblings, and the 1963 scene from the original is accurate.

I would rather have an anthology series, had H2 not been made

So Michael was committed in 1963 aged 6. Laurie was born 2 years later in 1965, but in 1978 he is 17, when in fact she was 13 going by her date of birth 1965?

Guys, John Carpenter was strenuously against everything about Halloween 2, wanted nothing to do with it and was writing it due to legal obligation. He is even on the record in several interviews saying he wrote the script in a single night. Reading a little too much into it I think lol!

well, she isn’t his sister, which is canon, so she was probably at home with the strodes as a baby
