First off, let me say that I’m not a huge fan of The Curse of Michael Myers…BUT I was reading some interviews with Dan Farrands and I was very interested in the vision that he had for H6. Like having a twist ending of Michael killing Loomis, or having some of the people of Haddonfield in on the cult. Unfortunately his vision of the film was changed drastically and Donald Pleasence passed away and we never got to see the original intentions on this story. So I’m interested in hearing some theories or stories on where the series could’ve gone after H6.
The producers cut had me until the weird Jamie Michael scene? Still weirds me out.
I prefer the theatrical cut to the producer’s cut, so I’ll go from there. I can remember seeing Curse when I was a kid, and even not really being aware of Pleasence dying in reality I was sure Loomis was finally killed by Michael at the end. Honestly, aside from the previous sequels mostly being written out, H20 was a fine place to take the series, even if I’m not the biggest fan of that movie. Michael’s business in Haddonfield is kind of done after Curse.
A little off topic, but I’d love an anthology movie, similar to Trick r Treat, but involving Michael and Haddonfield. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read Stefan Hutchinson’s Halloween: 30 Years of Terror.
Had Donald Pleasence not passed away when he did, what we know as The Producer’s Cut would’ve been the official version that hit theaters, in which case, Dr. Loomis presumably would’ve become The Shape and Michael Myers the Man in Black. Though it’s hard to imagine them not quickly writing themselves into a corner and having to switch things back to “normal”, as who would Loomis have gone after to sacrifice to Thorn? As old as the character is by the time Curse happens, it’s highly unlikely he has any living relatives left, and that’s assuming he had relatives at all, as none were ever mentioned in any of the previous films. Would be strange to see Michael chasing Loomis for a change and ultimately looking out for him to make sure he succeeds in whatever it is he would’ve been doing. But yea, I just can’t see that angle holding out for very long. Fans would’ve quickly become unhappy not seeing Myers’ white mask creeping around doing what he does best. But, I suppose things never would’ve gotten that far anyhow, regardless of whether Donald Pleasence lived on for a few more years or not. Jamie Lee Curtis still would’ve woke up one day in 1997 and remembered the 20th anniversary was near. H20 would’ve happened before the events of The Producer’s Cut could’ve been extended into another movie.
Had H20 not happened with Curse standing as the official H6, they could’ve easily made another movie of Michael trying to get his hands on Jamie’s baby. Kinda glad that never happened, personally.
I was under the impression that Loomis was chosen as Michael’s protector and Michael was still out to kill Jamie’s baby and Kara and Tommy. Maybe I’m wrong though.
Ending of Curse just confused me. I don’t even understand the meaning?

I remember reading an interview with the director of H6 last year. Had Curse not flopped, there would have been more storylines following the Curse theme with Tommy Doyle and Karen Strode as the main protagonists. I think there was going to be something where they are blamed for Michael’s return and the towns people chase them out of town. It was really convoluted and just sounded really bad.
Honestly, they didn’t convey a clear message. Had Michael not exited the sanitarium as the Man in Black I could see that happening with Loomis taking on a protector role. Of course it could be argued that he switched places with Wynn simply so he could walk away clean without any resistance. Interestingly though, if that were the case, how did he break the rune spell and “reactivate” when Wynn approached him? It’s as if Michael was robbed of his power and became a regular person while Loomis was the one left crazy-eyed and looking possessed.
I’d like to see a supernatural connection of some sort, but something more subtle and Cthulhu like in the background that they could develop over time.
