Which color or colors do yous guys use for a vintage kirk look, sorry I’m new here, and I have a blank captain kirk mask coming, and I would like to get it correct. Thanks yous guys, any help will be great appreciated
There seems to be a few layers. The bottom is a reddish brown, which is visible on the lips, around the eyes, and deepens the colors in the crevices between contours despite often being painted over with the second layer, then a more orange tinted flesh color over that as the second layer, then lighter tones to give off more highlights. The mask’s base latex color seems to be an tan color with a hint or orange and red (but I’m sure people who have beheld an actual '75 Kirk in person will know better).
There doesn’t seem to be a universal color scheme though, from what I’ve seen some have a more red and or orange tinted flesh tones, some have paler flesh tones (like the Ackerman Kirk), some have lighter-redder lips than others which have darker lips.
Thank you darkness,I had no idea there were so many layers involved, now I’m kinda steering more towards having an artist finish it for me,I bought a dp 98 kirk blank from eBay,its an enlarged one with full detail, looks perfect as a part 2
youre right…to get it right, you would actually need one in your hand…but from the pics of original kirk pics i’ve seen, the paint looks pretty basic…a base coat of deep orangish flesh tone, with a light misting of muted dark red for the lips and and the inside corners of the eye sockets.
dont forget this was a low budget mass produce mask that was just cranked out into stores…i dont think they put too much detail into painting…
As simple as the Kirk paint looks, it’s very difficult to get that special vintage look… it is for me anyway. Good luck!
Thanks yous guys,I shot you a message JC_70 about maybe wanting to finish it for me
