Looking for suggestions on which NAG mask I should get. Looking for one that’s the most accurate. And please give me the history of these masks or differences, like the 75K Supreme, Special Edition, etc.
Nightmare UL and Castle 75k are my personal favorites and both have lineage tracing back to an original 75 Kirk in some form.
The most accurate to the unworn hero mask after a good stretch with Nick Castle’s pencil head is the Castle 75k imo, but I personally prefer the Nightmare UL lately. It has even more of a worn stretch look to it. I plan to have one finished by Rowland Kelly early next year, and I have a Castle 75k that I can personally vouch quite heavily for. Neither of the below pictures are my masks.

Me personally I want nag nightmare. To me its most accurate mask
At the end of the road NAG masks are all very similar my friend, what really makes the difference is the finish and the way it fits you (your head shape), 75k, Proto 98, Shape 78 all share the same features, no matter if the latter is a ground up, it’s still made after the 75k, possibly the only sculpt that sticks out is the Nightmare, showing slightly more original features if painted by a professional, it really depends on your budget and how quick you want your mask. I suggest you save as many pictures as you can into your hard disk, all the ones you like, and post them here, so that we can give you more info about the finish, I’ve been through this too and you can’t imagine how confusing it was, reading Castle 75k million times and yet it looked completely different cause very few specified who finished the mask.
That Castle is the one James just finished for me and I agree that the UL and 75k are top dogs. The Shape78 is a great mask as well especially if finished by Nikos but JC really kills these Castles and Nightmares

Honestly, Nikos can finish a clean Castle fantastically as well. Absolutely adore mine.

I’ve layered photos of various masks over top stills of the 1978 hero mask, and from what I’ve seen by doing that is that the NAG 75K and NAG 98 Proto are the closest, TO ME. Interesting then, that from what I understand, both of those masks are supposedly the same mask, just the 75k is a slightly altered version of the 98 Proto, which itself supposedly has connections to an actual Don Post 75 Kirk mask, which is what was used for the hero in H1. Based on my comparisons to the hero, the closer mask, to my eye, between those 2 is the NAG 98 Proto, but you can’t go wrong with either one. The UL is amazingly accurate as well, among many others out there of course, but purely based on my photo layering comparisons with the hero, the 98 Proto and 75k are closest, in my opinion.
Don’t count out NightOwl altogether! I still love my Shat and it makes a mean H1! Here are H1 NightOwl and H2 NAG shots stacked for reference
I’m really thinking about buying NightOwl for price it makes sense for me then trying to find someone to sale me nag Nightmare
