For starters, I never understood why in the world does Michael all of a sudden have an appetite for dogs and rats. We see from Loomis and Brackett’s perspective in Halloween that they encounter a dogs corpse all tore up with Loomis saying “He got hungry…” meaning that the dog was eaten by none other than yours truly also in Halloween 5 and Resurrection we see corpses of half eaten dead rats but why? It’s not like the guy can’t go rob a grocery store during the middle of the night, eat other people’s trash, or cook since we can see that he has the capability to do in Resurrection but why the animals
Because Michael isn’t human, he is a force of nature with an animalistic sense. Still with a hunger. I believe that’s what Carpenter was trying to convey
Because it’s scarier to have him eat live animals than have someone walk in on homeboy chillin with a bag of Lays
Probably lowers the risk of him getting caught as well. Robbing a grocery store for food would draw more attention when he’s tying to lay low. Also, as others have mentioned, it’s a lot scarier having him eat a dog than a can of spaghetti Os or some ramen noodles

Rats and dogs are a delicacy in some countries!
He doesn’t strike me as a McDonalds kinda guy.
Because he can’t go to Taco Bell. I mean, he has no money to buy food lol
In my mind the “He was hungry” line refers to hungry to kill, not necessarily to eat the dog/skunk. I mean he did kill 4 dogs that we know of in only three of his first four films, and none of the other three were eaten.
I can just see him going through the drive through at McDonald’s lol

Because they taste like chicken
it is part of why he is so insane. an imbalanced diet. on halloween there are multiple porches with bowls of candy laying around and he sill chooses to eat dogs and rats.
Because he has no understanding of right or wrong. He just acts to fulfill a need and that’s what was available
Because being right would be vegan? Lol
I imagine Michael’s instincts have to be at least somewhat primal, if not more so. He’s been in an asylum for 15 years, so, to start, he’s probably used to being brought his meals by a nurse every day. Now, think about how young he was when he was supposedly committed. I’m sure he has absolutely no knowledge of how to cook any kind of food for himself. Even using a microwave is probably foreign to him, so even if he risked being seen or caught by breaking into and robbing yet another store, I doubt he would know what to do with the food that he stole (not to mention the electric in the Myers house is probably OFF). Sure, we bend reality enough to believe he magically knows how to drive a car, but, I doubt Michael’s diet was heavy on the minds of Hill and Carpenter when they wrote the thing.
You have a very good point there, I guess I’m just overanalyzing things it’s just that we don’t ever get a real explanation on why he does that but then again we never get an explanation on why he does anything of the things he likes to do lol unless if you count the cult of thorn. Maybe somehow one of the patients had a tendency to eat rodents and noncarnivore animals and witnessing that led to him being inspired to eat those things. LMAO at all the comments by the way.
Hey, that’s why we’re here, to be fans and analyze these movies.
Because they taste good!
I’m rob zombies H2 there’s a deleted scene where Michael eats out of the lady’s trash
