why H4 cover mask?

maybe a question asked but why did the H4(and H5) cover have a different masks than in the film? in my thought a better mask than the mask in the movie?

The Halloween 4 cover mask is actually a drawling of the original
mask in Halloween 1.

I thought that it looked a little like the H1 but didn’t know if it was intended thanks!

This question always comes up a dozen times throughout the year…Your almost correct. The art used for the H4 cover is based off of a photo of Dick Warlock in the mask in H2 which was used for the novel cover as well…(the photo not the art.)
Now I am pretty sure the Photo of Dick in question is not a screen grab but is more of a promo shot or behind the scenes shot if you will. But it’s Dick Warlock for sure.I just think it was used becuase they were trying to save money and that’s probably as close as your gonna get wihthout digging up Mustapha and asking him yourself…Even then I don’t think he’ll talk much…

Not saying your wrong, maybe you know a little more than me but I always thought the cover mask was based off an artistic drawing of when nick castle wore the mask.

Mask is too wide on the pic for it to be Nick Castle and we all know Dick had a wider face…I have the novel pic somewhere that has the photo pic on it but i’m sure someone else here has to have as well and maybe they can post it.

everything I have heard was that the book cover was a pic of the mask taken while lying on the floor. My h 78 resembles that look if lying down. Then for the book the added the neck, shoulder, and eyes, to give the idea it was a worn shot. Then for H4/5 covers an artist essentially brought out the detail in the pic and trace and painted over a copy of the pic to give the renderings seen on those covers.

This is the most correct answer. It was an actual shot of the hero mask on the floor that was enhanced to bring out the features.

It was actually a photo taken of the original mask propped on a book, under a table lamp. The original photograph was flying about the HMA about 10 or 12 years ago.

I wonder who has that now… I’d love to see it!

I asked Kim/lenswoman if she took the pic.
Seems it isn’t one of her’s.
The mystery continues… :open_mouth:
whoa…!

These are from my personal photos.
