Have some questions and hopefully the experts here on mm.net can elaborate. Why did john not go after castle for H2, I mean not that Dick didn’t do a wonderful job but why not the original myers? Also, I noticed in H2 that Dick’s coveralls (length) are extremely small was there a reason behind this, I mean they were high-water city and last but not least Michael’s Parents, how were they killed did Mikey do it after they found him out on the lawn in H1? Thanks!
They only appeared small because he wore lifts to make him taller.
I doubt Castle would have done it… he was just helping John out by playing him in the first film. No one really wanted to do H2, they only did it to make money since no one but Akkad really profited from the first film. Even Tommy Lee Wallace turned down directing it.
Nick only played the shape cause he was on set learning how to make a movie. John asked him to be the Shape because he liked the way Nick moved. Nick doesnt want to be rembered as the Shape, but rather as a director.
Wasn’t Castle payed like $25 a day to play the Shape by Carpenter?lol
Yep! And from Dick has told me, he was selected for H2 basically because he was a stunt man. Once he was on board, he created the “walk” all on his own without even seeing the original.
Dude, after Halloween, Castle moved on to greater things; things that transcend mere words!
yea, things like Major Payne and Dennis the Mennace, lmao…(both good flicks, I wont lie)
He made Cochran into a reptillian.
In 1981, Nick Castle was on the set of Escape From New York, his first produced screenplay, as well as directing his first feature. Kinda beats $25 a day to wander a hospital in coveralls!
what about the parents being killed? Also, even though the case was a non lucrative one, I am sure Dick and Nick for that matter receive royalties every time h1 and h2 are aired, bought ext…correct me if I am wrong but yes in hindsight it sure beats $25 a day to wonder a hospital in coveralls, phil.
Yeah, I don’t think anyone is getting royalties. Not sure if Halloween was a union shoot, but that would be the only way royalties would be had by any performers. Not sure about John’s deal but it would surprise me if his deal included backend residuals.

John got 10% of what Halloween made. Which back then they thought wouldn’t be much.
Right, but that’s profit sharing, different than residuals. I’d be extra-surprised if his 1978 contract had a home video clause in it…
Nick asked John if he could stick around and John said yes but why your here you mies well be doing something he say here go put this on.
