Will Anyone???

Will anyone ever make a good Halloween movie like John Carpenter did for Halloween and Halloween2?

Indeed. It’s called Halloween H20.

The originals were better than H20

Not anytime soon I don’t think. H20 was terrible in my opinion. LL Cool J? common.

If you are looking for something on par with Halloween, then no, it will NEVER happen.

Halloween was an absolute albatross of a movie that kicked off a subgenre. Just like there will never be another Pulp Fiction or another Raiders of the Lost Ark.

If you want fun slasher movies, they are still out there. Check out Hatchet and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. If you need Michael, then by all means look to H20. I enjoy H20 more than any of the sequels.

I agree 100%, the first two Halloween films “to me” are the whole series. It ends after two, and in many ways, that’s where it should have ended. Michael Myers dying in the fire.

But then in 1988, they brought him back… and you know something… it wasn’t bad… wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad… then in 1989, they totally killed it (in my opinion) with 5… that was it… game over.

Halloween H20 is entertaining yes, but it was capitalizing on the mid 90’s Horror craze, (I know what you did last Summer 1 and 2, Scream 1 and 2, Urban Legends etc…)

The film as a “whole” wasn’t all that great to be honest, (again in my opinion.) Entertaining? sure, fun to watch because it brought back Jamie Lee Curtis? no doubt. But a fantastic film? not at all.

Remove Jamie Lee Curtis from the film, and… well… you have a pretty shitty movie… you take Jamie Lee out of the first two Halloween films and replace her with another solid actress, the films still hold up… now, dont get me wrong… Jamie Lee is a HUGE part of the success, and why we love the originals… but i think you get what im saying… Halloween was not successful on its all star cast, because with the exception of Donald Pleasence, there wasn’t one…

Halloween was loved because of its mood, atmosphere, suspense, darkness, creepiness, eeriness, and keeping the shape in the shadows, so we only see glimpses of him, and of course, the “unknown factor” Who is this strange man? And last but not least, Carpenters unbelievable haunting score. (not just the main theme, everything)

Halloween H20 was pop culture fun. It didn’t have any of the above mentioned items to the extent the first two films had. Michael Myers was best left in the darkness and shadows, much like Freddy Kruger was in the first Nightmare on Elm street, and maybe even in 2, but by 3 (the Dream warriors) he was clear as can be and cracking jokes, funny? damn right! scary? not in the slightest. The first elm street scary? you bet your ass…

Anyway, I’ll stop rambling, but I agree, now a days it’s about how much money can we make, and how rich can we get… The horror genre has forgotten what truly scares us. it’s not what we see, it’s what we think we see;)

Movieman79, you are on point!

My point exactly. H20 was just as bad as the rest.

Very well said man! Bravo

I don’t know if it’s just because it came out when I was 7, and have fond memories, or something. But I don’t have a clue how you could say H20 was bad; Especially in comparison to 5 and 6.

Of course H20 was slightly better, but thats because 5 and 6 were atrocious to say the least. However, when i watch a Halloween film i try and judge it based on quality and content, and not on something trivial such as; whether or not it was better or worse than the film before it. Just because it might have been a better made movie, doesn’t mean its a GOOD movie, even if it involves Myers.

At this day in age it seems like little to no effort has been put into any of the newer Halloween films. They just slap any sub-par (often pathetic) white mask onto the character, give him a butcher knife, add some terrible acting, a little boobage, and title the movie HALLOWEEN and some how people eat it up. Well, I’m not buying it: even if it involves my favorite horror character.

Well, there’s absolutely no nudity in H20. And the mask was sculpted by one of the best that’s ever been in the business: Stan Winston (RIP). Not to mention Chris Durand was nearly dead-on as the Shape. He never even saw a Halloween film, but was able to reproduce the Castle-esque style nearly perfectly.

RZ already surpassed them. So…
