Hi!
I was just thinking about one thing: Latex rots, right? So…Will my Myers masks rot someday.
I hope not…
Many of today’s latex is made too last a lifetime, but it’s true latex does rot, but if you take care of a newly made indy mask the most you have too worry about is the paint fading or yellowing…
If you take care of them. Keep them out of direct sunlight wipe them out after wearing and powder them with cornstarch odds are they will last a very long time. Plus most of us on here won’t keep a mask forever.
latex is a byproduct of a tree-therefore it will eventually decompose,HOWEVER, just like everyone else said-take care of it and it will last a very long time. I’ve had some store bought masks decompose into a puddle of goo, while others have held up nice.
i’ve had some of my very first masks that i made, hold up pretty well, even though they were never sealed or cleaned…i’m talking 20 year old masks!
i now take ecceptional care to seal all my masks with a rubber coating…they may even outlast me
Yes it will…here is a picture of a mask that is only 4 years old . A1 quality mask, never been worn out of sunlight etc…
It has a really thick multi layered paint job compared to my other masks, so I wonder if that had any thing to do with it?
Just the luck of the draw I guess.
