So I read a post on here that confirmed the original hair that was used on the 1975 Captain Kirk mask, which happens to be Wool Crepe Hair. Apparently this was confirmed by Don Post himself. So I decided to rehair a crappy old Myers mask I own with Wool Crepe to see how this hair feels and functions on a mask. I thought the results were really interesting and amazing. Wool Crepe comes braided so is al curled up and you have to straiten it before hairing. The Myers mask always had parts that were quite wavy so I decided to only straiten the hair slightly to maintain some natural waves in it. Once I haired the mask, I found that it has so many loose scraggly hairs and it’s so extremely easy to give the hair a very messy look whilst still keeping its overall shape; something the original Myers mask always seemed to do. I have photos below. Some of the photos with the right lighting remind me of a BTS shot of Nick Castle with the mask on and whilst the overall shape of the hair stays the same, you see hundreds of loose scraggy hair in the light. I have referenced that photo below too. I have to say, this hair has given my mask the most natural Myers hair ever. I never even have to style it. I just rub my hand over the hair and it looks exactly how I would have to style my other Myers masks for 5-10 mins.
Where did you buy that type of hair sir
I use wool crepe on all of my rehauls. It is phenomenal. And, like you said, it pretty much styles itself.
