I found a pair of navy blue Workrite for $30 shipped. I know charcoal is the color but this was a bargain. Any suggestions?

Wash the ever-living shit out of them and leave them out in the sunlight until they fade. Great deal though!
Everyone one says charcoal but my pal who worked on the movie said they were Navy.
Several movie sources also said charcoal. What department was your friend in?

Good ol camera department.
It seems the general answer via all the forum threads has been that they are in fact charcoal but some kind of light navy dye was added to them maybe in washing. Then weathered after.
I wish I knew what type of dye to be exact. I’m ordering the charcoal ones myself.

Apparently they are Charcoal with a Denim blue dye added and then weathered after. You really can’t go wrong with grabbing the Charcoal pain as they are stock. You could add a bit of dye and thrown them in the wash and see what you end up with but all the pairs I’ve seen look to be almost identical to what we’ve seen in trailers and BTS photos
The promo pictures definitely have a blue tint to them. However, the screen used pair don’t seem to have any blue. Even though everyone has seen these pictures, I’ll post them again
I think most of it is just lighting. Almost looks like in the picture with JLC some of the blue dye has faded in spots if you look close enough. They probably looked a lot more blue before being sweated in and worn throughout the filming process
You really can’t go by looking at pictures. Lighting plays a big part in how they’ll photograph and the monitor viewing it on will also make it look one way or the other. The actors skin tones don’t look all that natural in these pictures but it could be the way they look on my monitor.
thedevil’seyes - A very faded navy pair will most likely look close to a charcoal pair that’s put in the denim blue dye. Not exact but close enough.
Thanks everyone for the loads of awesome information. Ill try and lighten them a bit by washing them several times and see what happens.
I’ve only seen one person say that the coveralls were dyed, and that person was offering to weather people’s coveralls. He probably just made it up to get people to send them because alot of people don’t know how to dye their own stuff. According to that guy, Chris Nelson told him, but I’ve yet to see any proof after asking for it. Until I hear or see where Chris Nelson said it, I’m calling bullshit!
Well I tried to use rit color remover to make the coveralls a bit lighter cuz they ate almost black. The tub turned a bluish brown but they still looked really dark but they were still wet. Then I tried bleach and cold water and nothing bled off. I read that FR clothing can’t be bleached. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
Does any one remember that dress someone posted on Facebook asking everyone what color it was? No one could determine its color, every one had a different opinion. It’s the same dilemma here. I purchased the charcoal grey workrites, and most of the time I look at them they look blue to me, and that’s literally having them in my hand. They also match the photos I’ve seen from the movie
I honestly think that the screen used coveralls are indeed charcoal. But going through what I’m going though trying to strip the color from treated fabric the same would apply to adding color. It wouldn’t take to the fabric. So in sure the screen used are just weathered. I hear the charcoals have a bluish tint to them already. I highly doubt the costume department would go to such length as to strip the workrites just to add blue to them. Unless they want to drive the masses crazy with the current what color are they debate.
