BIG news to help with the Halloween blues!

_Today is a hard day for we Halloween fans because the big day is over and it’s a year before we get our favorite holiday back!

I think I may have something to help with these blues however.

I have been trying to get in touch with Mark Roberts (owner of the original hero Myers mask from Halloween) for several years now. Unfortunately Mark had become tired of all the drama that our hobby often suffers (something he and I absolutely have in common!) and therefore simply chose to remain silent.

A few weeks ago I got a nice surprise. My good friend Kaizu contacted Mark and received info from him that the hero was indeed still intact and basically in the same shape as when he purchased it from Dick. This was a BIG deal as Mark doesn’t get involved with this sort of stuff, or hadn’t for a long time. This gave me a new hope. So I decided to try and reach out to Mark again. To my surprise, Mark contacted me and was willing to do an exclusive Michael-Myers.net interview!! Not only did he graciously answer some questions I had for him but he ALSO provided new pics of the hero coveralls, scalpel, Elrod knife and…YES THE HERO MASK ITSELF!!!

This interview and pics will be posted soon. As I am compiling the information together Mark has agreed to answer a few questions. I don’t want to bombard him so I’m going to ask him to answer maybe five more.

If you have a question that you would like to ask post it here over the next day or two. I will choose around five of these and hopefully have them answered and add to the interview info coming. No questions/statements about “why haven’t you showed us the hero before” or “it’s not fair for you to keep it to yourself” and the like. They WILL be deleted. This mask was purchased by HIM and he owes none of us ANYTHING.

PLEASE let’s keep this positive and have some fun!! Far too many posts are just being drowned with negativity lately.

With that said I hope everyone is excited about this as I am!

I’d ask him what original motivated him to want to buy the mask beyond just a love for movie, and if he’s ever worn it.

Fantastic!!! I sure can’t wait to see how all that stuff has stood the test of time!!

Mike

I’d like to know if he has plans to or already has professionally preserved the mask beyond keeping it in an air tight climate controlled display? Like getting a professional restoration company like Tom Spina Designs or another to preserve it considering the latex rot, or does he wish to preserve it as is in its’ original state (understandable if he feels like further preservation may alter it somehow)?

The coveralls, just what color are they (under all the weathering at least)?! Blue, green, charcoal, some sort of amalgamation of two or more colors?

that whats up. see how my cgp fear compares to it.

man this is tight!

Awesome news

That’s awesome!! I’d ask what he plans to do with it. Maybe Pass it down to his children? Or maybe sell it sometime?

This is a fresh new twist to my usual post Halloween blues! Can’t wait!!!

This is awesome! PM incoming…

I’m curious if the planned restorations were ever made.

I’d like to know what he thinks is the closest out of all the replica myers mask has the closest resemblance to the hero

The question I would like to be asked is…" What approximate appraisal value has the mask been insured for, if at all? " Thank you, and this is awesome news!!!

ask him if he would 3d scan it and make copies for us members. techonology be getting crazy these days.

doing so would make that $$

I would ask him about the hair. Is it blonde underneath, or a solid brown color? This would put some stuff to rest

Wow! This is some great news! Can’t wait to hear the results of the interview. And see the pics of the hero!

I rarely come on here anymore, but THIS post made me creep back in. Can’t wait to SEE what it looks like now!!

This is awesome news! Can’t wait to read the interviews and see the pics.

Has he ever gotten the masked signed (such as the interior) by any of the cast/crew of the film/s?

I would also be curious to know if he ever plans on having the mask restored or refurbished in any way, similar to what Don Shanks did with his H5 mask. I know this mask is much older than Shanks’ mask, so at some point I’m sure it could use a restoration, and probably a re-hairing. I would be absolutely shocked if the mask was still in near-pristine condition.

The mask wasn’t in pristine condition when Mark bought it back in 2003. The last pic we saw of the hero (seen below) shows Mark holding his finger over the mask at the neck. He is doing this to hold the neck in place with the mask because the neck was separated from the mask itself:

I’ve always had that picture but I never realized that’s why his hand was placed as so. Did he mention whether or not it was restored? Or just that it was in the condition we last saw it in? Also just a little theory- I think the reason it deteriorated so badly between the ‘96 (maybe ‘98, I forget) video of the hero and the 2003 shot you posted is because it was repainted shortly before the video and that caused some kind of chemical reaction. I know Dick says it was never repainted, but it definitely was.
