Bob Weinstein considers Halloween II a success

For all the talk that H2 was considered a flop by TWC here is news otherwise…

The owner of the studio has confirmed H2 was a success.

"Weinstein Co. co-chairman Bob Weinstein agreed: “$15 million is the right budget” for a movie like “Halloween II,” which will “probably top out at around $40 million” he told TheWrap.

“If the film costs $15 million to make and grosses $40 million worldwide, that’s a very profitable exercise for any company. It’s low risk with a good return."

Awesome! Good news!

Congratulations Rob Zombie!!

Your movie made a lot of money!

-Big D

The people saying it didn’t make alot of money just didn’t like the movie.

LMAO!!

“If the film costs $15 million to make and grosses $40 million”

I may be wrong, but I think out of that 40 million the company roughly gets 70%, which is 28 million… Minus the 15 million to make H2, which is a 13 million profit they made.

Guys,

Did you expect him to admit that they didn’t make the entire budget back? The SHOOTING budget was 15, not including the marketing, promo and distribution. They haven’t made the budget back as a whole, they made what it cost to SHOOT the film. Trust me.

…yet the Weinsteins are in financial trouble…

Anyone else smell bullshit here?

they made what it cost to shoot the movie as a profit yes…

Wrong. It cost them 15 million to SHOOT the film, but that 15 million was only a piece of the ENTIRE budget of this picture. It cost much more to make this film than 15 million dollars, they have NOT made back the budget for this film. It’s nothing more than public posturing on his part, he’s not going to go public and say that it didn’t do well, his stock holders (…what few are left I’m told) would go into a direct tailspin.

Of course they made a profit on the film. Are people going to now try and say that the company ended up in the red? please.
What’s next? :unamused:
Congrats to Rob

Hey GHOUL,

That’s EXACTLY what I’m telling you. I KNOW FOR A FACT that they have NOT made back the entire cost of this film, if you don’t like what I’m saying then maybe you should do some research amongst your “inner circle” and see if any of your people know TWC like MINE does.

Then you can tell me what’s what LOL ! They haven’t made it back yet, sorry to be the one to have to break your heart over this news.

If they made money then why is the Weinsteins are on the brink of going under? I don’t understand…

I’m not sure whats what, or what to believe. But this is what I heard/was told. But they could be wrong, again this is only what I have been told.

Halloween 2 had a shooting budget costs of $15 million, add on 2-3 million for markting, promo and distribution… total cost 17-18 million (all in) It was no more than 18 million.

If Halloween 2 does indeed gross 40 million in N. America, the company roughly gets 70% of that, which is 28 million… you then take away the 18 million it cost all in for Halloween 2, and that still leaves a profit of 10-11 miilion.

18 million (for budget, markting, promo and distribution)
40 million gross (70% goes to the company)
28 million (after the 70%)
10-11 million (profit so far)

Add on another 20 million to your 2-3 million marketing budget and you are in the ballpark of the truth. It cost more to market/promote/distribute than to make this film.

dude…how do you figure $20 mil in promotion? I have to say I thought in fact it was under-promoted. $20 mil to promote? no way. Noone would make money lol.
You wag around these facts that you preach as gospel and what are you again? a dj? radio promoter? I forgot seriously. Anyway…my “inner circle”. Thats sounds so Norway 1993. Be fair. You dont like RZ’s films and you’ve spewed enough propaganda already. The white horse has been beaten to a pulp by you.

Damn, I had no idea it cost that much to market a movie :open_mouth: Thanks for the info

Listen man, marketing, promotion and distrubution together is costly. Allow me to share a quote with you FROM TWC themselves.

“Likewise, Weinstein said that marketing costs are also typically reasonable for horror remakes – usually around $20 million. “It’s less expensive to market because people already know the franchise,” he said.”

Anything else GHOUL? Their budget I was told for the ENTIRE THING, which includes the filming pushed 40 million. That number given to me from one of TWC FRIENDS of 20+ years.

Actually GHOUL, I have 3 fulltime jobs, one is in Radio, the other is in TV and the last is professional fighting. Would you like my resume too? I have close to a hundred contacts in the entertainment business, and my mother in law is with the VP of Walt Disney Entertainment. I’ve said this all before, maybe you should read back a few posts.

Now I know you looovveeee all things Rob Zombie, and good for you. There were several things that I LOVED about H2, so go preach elsewhere about my hatered for RZ films. Your act is tired.

The film has yet to make back it’s budget, deal with that and you’ll be fine.

they blew 20 mill on one week of tv spots and posters? it didnt seem like that much effort went into marketing this film? whered the money go? they did an awful job advertizing
