It’s cool Nightstalker, I actually was only saying that the original mask wasn’t produced under a high Hollywood budget, but was a simple, store bought mask, that some changes were made to, under a shoestring budget. By no way am I saying that the idea of the mask is cheap, just at the time of it’s creation, it was done on next to no budget, and certainly wasn’t being thought of as an iconic image at the time.
They just wanted a blank looking face, and made it in a crude manner under the lack of budget. As it relates to materials used, it’s closer to a mass produced mask. With that said, that does not mean that the mask everyone holds dear, is cheap in their eyes. It very much is a piece of artwork that many have tried to reproduce several times over the years, and with great care too. I have one Psycho mask as my high price purchase, and the rest has been TOTS, as I feel for 60 dollars, they have come the closest to what I am looking for, under 100 bucks.
I understand what you were saying and what you thought I was implying, but I just didn’t word it right I suppose. The original mask is a piece of artwork, that when TLW created it, definitely wasn’t going for high end art, but a happy accident that resulted in a fine piece of artwork all have sought after in the years since. Not knocking the mask at all, or the artists who spend countless hours trying to recreate it. I think they all do amazing jobs.
And yes, I do defend TOTS and especially Justin Mabry from time to time. But as for Zephro, I just never had a bad experience with him, yet I see how many others do, and I see the interactions with him on social media, so I can get where everyone is coming from and totally understand man.
